Just read this, Did you get it working? I just scored on another PGA off Craigslist "not working" and got it alive tonight. All the connections are there and the trackball is proven good?

gvdvdyver--- How much for a dongle AAP???

How about 60$ excluding postage

Sounds fair. But I am a newbie when it comes to logistics of this game... All I need is the dongle on my machine and then install discs(2?)for AAP and then it unlocks the rest of the courses? I have TEAM CHALLENGE now and am wanting more maps... Also I prefer PAYPAL and where are you located so I can see bout shipping.

I asked this question on the Facebook page, but nobody had what I was looking for. Hopefully I'll have more luck here.

Off-topic: Does anyone have the Madden 2 system and restore CD's (or even better, ISO images)?

My reasoning is two fold.

1. I would like to fix my Madden game  :)

2. I'm starting to figure out the database structure and server communication protocol. Since it appears that Madden and PGA share the same API, it may be helpful for comparison.

With a little luck, I can make a server for madden also.

Would be great if we can get the server back up and running as I can't bring myself to play golf any more without world class or tournaments. Can't believe you have just disappeared without even a goodbye Chuck!!!! Disaster!!
Would love a Madden 2 server also starting to get into it as just built a 4 player machine to run this game.
I'll check to see what disks I have as think the pick I bought game with them.

Keep us posted about any server progress as it seems chuck isn't returning anytime soon!! :badmood:

I figured someone would have connected by now.  Checked the logs, nothing.  If you're not able to connect then let me know.  Sorry to upset everyone by  just up and leaving.  Sometimes stress makes you do impulsive things.  Server is back up though.  Call in, play some world tour.

Firstly, welcome back Chuck.  More importantly, I sure hope all is well with you and the family. Sounds like the time away has had some adventure. Let any of us know what we can do to help.

Was really surprised to see this post late last night. If you would like, I could get some conditions for a "Masters" tournament setup and sent to you. I was thinking that Sahalee would be an "Augusta" like course.

In order to try and get my TC World Tour running again, I had to reinstall TC. Unfortunately, my dongle seems to be permanently registered as it asked me to Restore my registration, which never worked. So I went the dongle emulator route which seems to be working as it is now connecting to the server.  All seems to be working again. Though my dongle seems to not work with any configuration of TC or AAP as it thinks it is registered and needs to connect to restore.

I am sure Joe can finally feel whole again and he and Gerhard can get back to pasting the rest of us ;)
I played a return to WT round at Kapalua. Shot -22. Not bad for me.

Also, I have been trying to keep up with all the new players that have joined the community since the first of the year. Maybe we can renew Joe's old request to provide some information so we know who we are playing.

Nice to be back online again and sure hope all is well.

I appreciate the welcome back.  I  cant say im "back" though.  Let me explain a few things and go over what I hope the future of all this shapes up to be.

First off, I dont have any EA or GVR code.  I have also never worked for them.  The entire server is written from scratch via reverse engineering.  From deciphering their data protocol, encryption, and transport protocol, it was all RE.

The amount of hours I spent creating the server, writing all the tools, and debugging was immense.  I started neglecting things.  I also took something that was fun and turned it into something that felt like a second job.  I got family so mad at me for neglecting them that one night I just said that's it, I'm done with this stress.  So I shut it all down, deleted all accounts and walked away.

I never looked at byoac from that night until a night or so ago.  I saw how people really love this game, were upset, and all the new people that came out of the woodwork.  I knew the server needed to go back online.

So the server is back up.....but......I can't go back to developing the way I was.  If I charged money and this was a second business then sure, but it's not.  This is something that needs to be fun for me.  That means a few new rules for myself.

1) I will code when I can.  That might mean a bunch, it might mean none.
2) Tournament creation needs to be outside of my control.  When I start coding the first thing I will do is create a page that allows some people like Spit and Tim to handle tournys.
3) I will not shut the server back down.  It means too much to the community.
4) I will not share the code or RE findings with anyone.  It could open myself up to liability and other legal issues I cannot forsee as I'm not a lawyer.
5) This needs to be fun.

So with everything said I dont know what the future will bring in terms of new code.  I dont know how often I will check this site.  I will start a twitter account so I can just post info about the server.  Will post that account name after I create it.  Also via twitter Ill post the two links to check tourny and wt stats.

Ok, serious stuff out of the way now.  Everybody enjoy some golf.

Hack and reverse engineer mean two different things Ed.  To hack means to modify the game itself.  If I changed one line of code on the machine that would be hacking.  As many have mentioned here after examining my patch, I dont change any code.  All I do is point the machine to my server instead of gvr.

To reverse engineer is to decipher what something is doing and duplicate it.  That is exactly what Im doing.  I'm duplicating what the original server did.

Please dont try to climb on here and battle me.  You aren't at my level.  Just enjoy the game if you have one.  If you don't you should get one, connect to my server, and enjoy a great game.

>Hack and reverse engineer mean two different things Ed.  To hack means to modify the game itself. <
both mean the same thing...
it is that simple..
i am reversing  it-gamming goldent-tee golf >hard-ware level<,it means i need
software to do it..
as just like gobal vr @ea sports ,it-gamming
they will not hand u the software to do it..it is that simple
so u need to reverse eng it or hack it
same dif....same boat
so stuff your god complex
and face it u hacked it

Wow Ed, your ignorant post crashed the byoac board.  Guess it didn't even want to read your ramblings.

The fact that you don't know the difference between hacking and reverse engineering shows your ignorance.  Look let me make it extremely easy for you to understand.  You change the code or its native execution sequence....that is hacking.  You enter a system you dont have access to.....hacking.  I did neither.  You evaluate what a system does, dont change it, duplicate what it does....reverse engineering.

Time for you to go back into hiding and get off my forum.....daddy is home.  Time for adults to talk and children to go back to bed.

Ed not sure what your trying to prove mate but all I know is you have never delivered one thing for this community and not many people other than yourself not what the fck ur talking about so please stop whatever the fck it is your trying to do and leave the man who has delivered so much for our golfing community return and do what he says he will be doing in plain English.  Thanks again PGA mate for getting the server back up and running and making so many people here and around the world Very happy again.  :notworthy:

Welcome back PGA_Server/boost! Great to have you and the server back. I understand your point about sharing code, but *should* you want to not be around in the future, any RE breadcrumbs that I could find 'lying around' would go a long way in helping us continue your work. Your massive effort is much appreciated, and getting Ed's ramblings to reappear has made my evening!

I'm questioning if it makes sense to have this byoac forum and facebook group.  It seems so much easier to communicate with people via facebook group page.  Easier to follow sub conversations too.  If this forum was abandoned would anyone mind?

Facebook group is here:

Yes a whole lot easier to communicate via Facebook however not sure if there are any old school people not yet on Facebook as it took me a while to catch on. Would save a lot of time to have one spot for updates.

Just read the first page of the forum, and answered my question.  Problem is I don't think my card reader works.  Also, what is the "attract screen"?
Thanks Jake

Hi Jake welcome mate. The attract screen is the screen you see when the game is running but you haven't started playing a game yet. Also please join the Facebook group link is above as we are trying to wind down things here as much easier to communicate on Facebook.

You will need a working card reader and card to play online so get yourself a working one.

remove the trackball...take it apart and clean it?

seriously, it's like 6 screws and the big black housing comes apart into 2 pieces. clean your rollers and get the gunk out. wash plastic housing and ball in warm soapy water. lube you bearings if you like or replace them. Hey guys, hope everyone had a good weekend.  I have a quick question.  Sometimes my game seems laggy and choppy during play.  Is there a better video card that I should go with?
Thanks Jake

load up on ram. as much as will work with the board (likely 2 gb (4x512mb))

swapfile read/write is the main cause stuttering/slowness.

Also, I ordered some more RAM today lilshawn.  Hopefully it will solve my problem.  Thanks for the help.

Yep ram will help however want get rid of all stutter. Only way is to upgrade to a more powerful PC such as the gx260 I use and stutter free smooth golf.

Yes STP is still around but rarely posts anymore but will always respond to pms.
