Multiple Game Systems One S-Video Input
« on: October 16, 2003, 05:30:16 pm »
I am sure many of you have run into this problem.  I have 7 game system, a PS2, PS1, X-Box, NES, N64, Genesis, and a Saturn.  I have the PS2, PS1, X-box, and N64 on s-video cables as well as my digital cable and dvd.  I have a pelican switch box that I use but I still have to switch cables in it the back of it for certain systems.  Does anyone know if they make a s-video cable with ends for different systems but all go to one s-video cable?  I ordered a mad catz universal cable from kb toys for 2.99 to try, but I don't know if that will do it.  Or does anyone know any inexpensive selector with like 9 inputs?  Last but not least does anyone know how to put s-video ends on the av cables I have for my NES, Genesis 2, and Saturn?

Thanks in advance for all the help you guys will give me:)

John

These are very popular cables, it's just you can only get the good ones online.  Lik-sang.com is your best bet.  They have several multi system cables that will automatically switch for you.

Wow, this one cable (multi console to SCART) would be exactly what I need to hookup any console to my arcade monitor.  Swweeeeeet. I wonder if RandyT sells this?

I was looking at this cable first:

http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=83&products_id=2599&

But then I saw the mad catz cable at blockbuster and found out that kb toys online had it for 2.99.  So I figured it was at least worth a shot.  Here it is:

http://www.madcatz.com/MadCatz/product_details.jsp?product_id=6015

I was also thinking about just getting some rca to s-video adapter cables for the NES, Genesis, and Saturn, anybody use these before, here is a pic:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3052898809&category=15066&rd=1

But I think I will still have too many cables, any way I can wire 3 of these up so I have 3 rca jacks and one s-video out?

Thanks again,

John

you could get multipl pelican switch boxes:)
It's hard to get ALL of that through one s-video.
I don;t know what else than what people have said as my pelican box is setup like:
1)Dreamcast
2)N64/Gamecube
3)PS2
4)DVD
I do have a NES and 2600 but I plug that through RCA

i was running 2 pelican switch boxes up until about a month ago..

Box 1:

1 - GameCube
2 - XBOX
3 - PS2
4 - (activate box 2)

Box 2:

1 - Dreamcast
2 - N64
3 - PC
4 - DVD

luckily i just picked up a new receiver with lots more inputs than my old one, so i'm down to only one pelican box.. they're great though, and i think they were only like $15-$20 each..
