I finally got a good chunk of time to get some work done yesterday. Kids and wife had some things to do and since the cab is for her parents, I expressed my need to get some uninturrupted work time. After about 6 hours of "free" time, I got almost all of the assembly completed. The only thing left is the hinges for the CP and front door, then it's off to paint!!!
So, since the glued edges from the previous post were dry and nice and hard, I pulled the entire cab out into the driveway and sanded it all down...
I was also able to get the door, speaker panel, CP mounting points, admin-panel and monitor mount sorted..
First, the monitor mount. It's a riff on Knohbody's bartop bezel with a homebrew mounting system. Here's the mount that will be screwed to the case:
Next, the cleat that will be screwed to the bezel is test fitted into the notched endplates. This piece will not be attached directly to the mount in the cab. This will allow the bezel and monitor to be removed simply by unlatching it and tilting the whole mess forward:
Here's a pic with the monitor mount, support brace (behind the back of the CP) and the admin panel....
It was a long day, but all I have left to do is replace the hinges on the bottom door. They are the wrong ones.
But, the door is finished, too:
edit: Got the correct Blum inset pocket hinges and also a dual spring loaded striker for the door. Turned out pretty nice:
Striker has some juice!
Once that's sorted, it's ready for paint. I should have the art printed this week and start final assembly next weekend, provided the money works itself out..
Also, if anyone knows a good source for speaker grills, LMK..
