speech plugin for mala
« on: June 28, 2012, 10:25:39 pm »
OK I had no problem using this plugin for mala on windows xp but when I try to use it on win7 I get an error floating point division by zero. Is there something I'm doing wrong or need?

Thanks

Joe

It wouldn't surprise me if nobody did.
GIFs don't work in Win7 and nobody noticed.

Longshot, but you might try Mala 1.745 beta.
The devs would be more likely to be using that on Win7, thus more likely to fix errors that pop up.

EDIT: On the mala site, it says "Needs the Windows Speech API to work"
You might check text-to-speech under the control panel and make sure that it's working in Windows.

You might give the LEDBlinky Plugin for mala a try. I know it has some voice capabilities as well. You don't have to actually have any LED's to use it as far as I know.

Loadman's speech plugin doesn't work on Windows 7 unless you select a voice other than the default 'Anna'.  For example, if you install the Chinese voice and select it - then you do get speech - but numbers are in Chinese :)

Re-selecting Anna breaks it again.

I think it's something to do with the plugin not realising that you only have 1 'default' voice installed *guessing here* (division by 0 errors usually occur when you only have the 1 option available - something to do with 'indexing' I believe *guessing again*).

You could complain to Micro$oft about the lack of extra voices - but I doubt that will get you very far ;)

BTW - I got the Chinese voice by adding the Chinese Language pack via. Windows Update (optional).
