FS: XBOX 1 VGA cord (NH, USA) $35 shipped
« on: June 23, 2012, 08:57:13 pm »
I could use the cash and figure I can make another in the future so here it is for sale.

You need a hacked bios or other way of running unsigned code on the XBOX to use this!

Custom made VGA box for the original XBOX.  Here's a thread where you can see what I'm selling: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=119841.0
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

That price is a bit steep....You know you can buy xbox to component cable which plugs directly into a component to vga cable.

Couple that up with Frosty's dual boot hack and your good to go.

6 bucks total....

Yeah I remember this thread awhile back, it would have sold back when the technology wasn't around or discovered.  Plus didnt Frosty have some cords floating around?

PBJ is correct, the converter boxes are pretty much the easiest way to go.

My route, requires a synch on green monitor and and the xbox board has to be 1.5 or lower, (neither are hard to find). So a little searching and you can get it done for 6 bucks.  It does hide the flubber, coincidentally the timing of the signal synch delays long enough that the flubber sequence finishes finishes before the picture shows.

Regardless, you might get a newb to buy that cord, but for 35.00 i'd rather buy a used xbox or a used monitor, both of these are priced at about the same pice point as the cord....

So nice of you both to try and keep people from buying something I put money and time into making for a specific purpose which is connecting an XBOX directly to a VGA monitor that doesn't support SOG.
I guess I can cross you two off the list of potential customers.

I'd love to see a link to one of these converter boxes that is so cheaply available.

As for sync on green being easier and cheaper, yes of course that's true.  In my experience SOG monitors are less common than those that don't support it though.  I have personally tried more than 10 monitors and only 1 was SOG.

My price may be a little higher than some may want to spend sure.  Those people can choose not to buy from me or maybe if they were nice about it and offered something close I'd have some wiggle room on the price.

2 second search on E-bay....

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-HD-VGA-Box-touse-Microsoft-Xbox-on-computer-Monitor-/180889160172?pt=Video_Games_Accessories&hash=item2a1dd589ec

I've read up on this Innovation VGA box here, and it sounds like it's "good" quality but it's not a true VGA output.

Looks like to me that crashwg's price + a firmware update isn't too bad for a true VGA output.  Hmmm, I'm considering this.  What would shipping cost to send it up here to Vancouver?

That was actually my first thought as well but thinking about it further I came to the conclusion that they're intentions were more likely looking out for the buyers.  I decided reporting would probably not result in their threads being removed.

Of course I disagree with their conclusions so I will continue to have the cord listed for what I believe it's worth.

My apologies if my comments were considered thread crashing.  To me it seems our comments are more informative than anything.  Our comments have been strictly price related and in comparison to other technologies that are available at a cheaper price point.  In saying that it might give you some insight in regards to what you could get for it as buyers aren't concerned about the effort that was put into it or what $'s you sunk into it.  All they care about is does it work and is it reasonably priced.....

I have 6 SOG monitors sitting in my closet now all bought off craigs list, mainly Dells, all purchased for less than what you are listing the cord for.  In the write-up it was disclosed that pretty much any monitor built after 2000 i think has this capability.  Yes it's trial and error but nothing is guaranteed not even the cord.

I hope you sell your cord for what you feel it's worth, but really if you go back and read the thread its kind of informative and may coax a buyer who doesn't want to deal with finding the perfect setup to snag your cord off the market.

isnt this kind of thread crapping against the rules around here??

If i'm not mistaken wasn't it you that ripped on PBJ's thread in rehards to his 3D glasses? So we are all entitled to opinions, and input, its not always gonna be positive.

I hope you sell your cord man, my apologies for my comments...

I dont mean to start any conflict but I just use the official xbox HD cable and set the hd settings in the systems os menu without being modded or any custom chips or firmware needed.

it does everything native but 1080 becuase it is 1080i only but 640 720 etc there all P/native with no mods or hacks needed and it does look sick in hd with the official hd box deal.

looks the exact same same as the advanced AV pack casing but it is called the high definition pack instead and has component and stereo out instead of composite & S-video and most hd monitors these day's have both component and vga jacks but there the same display coming from the ol xbox in either case when either is jack is used :applaud:

most people missed that part or did not know they were out there becuase most did not even know what a hd tv was at the time many moons ago when xbox was in its prime but hd was still out of reach with the pricing when they first came out but the original xbox does indded have a official box for hd tv's and monitors with no modding and flashing needed..

now the hd tv's are dime a dozen and you have to pay someone to take your old crt's away lol.

A bunch of stuff about hooking up an XBOX to a TV.

What makes you think Tenfresh doesn't want to hook an XBOX up to a VGA monitor?  You know, one of those things that only has one type of input...

Moot point regardless, I have searched high and low but can't find either the completed unit or the components to build another.  If I happen across either in the near future, I'll check back with you (Tenfresh) to see if you still want one.

Hello crashwg,

Do you still sell these cables?

I need to link my xbox to a UVC, it downscales properly 480p to 240p.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the heads up.  Yesterday I couldn't check member profiles or send private messages, which was most likely due to the server issues that are currently getting worked out.

PMs are enabled after you post a couple times, profiles and what not might be the same. Either way, I'd try to find the cord elsewhere =)
