MaLa with Arcade Ambience Project & Other Features

I'm having some major PC issues and apologize if this is a super novice question.
I can't seem to figure it out.
Can I have an MP3 file playing while in the MaLa menu ?
Simply put while in my MaLa menu scrolling for games I'd like to play the arcade ambience project.
Can this be done, or set to be done for say a fixed amount of time ?
IE - it plays for 10 minutes, if no activity or controls are touched mala begins to cycle through videos on my PC (as sort of an attract mode).

Any help or advice would be great.

I've really struggled with "background music" on a couple of machines. I think there are some problems with making it work on different OS's. XP Pro SP3 is what I'm struggling with.

I'm working on a new machine for my basement.
It's going to be my best project ever, most complete.
Use every trick I've learned.

I'd love some form of attract mode.
I think MaLa will display screen shots or videos as a screensaver if selected will it not ?

However I'd like to jazz it up some how when simply powered on and not in use for a lil bit. (IE - between plays)

Are you set on Mala?  Can your pc run Hyperspin?  That sounds like it has all the bells and whistles you may want

I'm a huge MaLa fan.
One time I DL a HS build and it sopped @ %99.9 and never ever completed.
To this day I have it.
I like the look of HS, but don't know that I'd pay to get all the required parts.
MaLa is AWESOME !

If I can't get it to do what I need I'll be ok, but if it can I'd love it.

Understood, I won't try to talk you out of it.  I haven't myself used MaLa, but was going to try it to soon to customize and match a build.

And just to defend Hyperspin, it's free and all required parts are free.  You pay for easy access to download themes and other transition effects, but those aren't required. 

I do really like the arcade ambience project, was thinking about making an intro video using it.

Now if only I knew what I was missing from my 60GB download of Hyper Spin.
Dont get me wrong, I love the look of it, it's very polished, and looks good.
I never thought to look into getting the required parts outside of the torrent I had tried to obtain prior.
I think my distaste was strong when the DL  failed @ %99.9 .
For what it's worth the file in the body of the torrent said to "repair" section 11.
Did that, didn't work. For me HS died that day.

MaLa works amazing !
Might be simple, but it works perfect. It's simple (and that isn't bad) has pretty much every feature I could think I'd use. And Loadman is amazing and provides amazing support.

All that, plus my ability to create my own layout makes MaLa a "goto" for me. In all honesty I want to revisit old builds and machines I've done to add MaLa.

Anyway if MaLa cant (wont) play the MP3 audio as a form of attract I'll be ok.
I would however love if the screensaver feature works as I believe it does.
If anyone knows for sure that info would be good.

I have an existing MAME + MaLa project, my Donkey MAME. Custom MaLa menu in a Donkey Kong Jr cabinet.
Love the project, love my MaLa skin. But I always thought when powered on but not in play I'd love an attract mode. I had no clue (still dont to be honest) that the screensaver was the option I need. Actually, I should test that when I go home.

It seems I'm very much an idiot and really didn't look very hard.
MaLa seems to have most (if not all) of the features I was looking for....I just didn't look all that hard !

This is perhaps not the best thread for this, but thought I would ask.
Does anyone know any free program that would allow me to create an intro video ?
Just something simple.

Anything, anyone ?

Happy to say that I got the Arcade Ambiance Project playing perfect in my MaLa menu.
Even went so far as to download various classic arcade sound effects and customize the sound of my menu.
I can admit that over the AAP soundtrack (Arcade Ambiance Project) they perhaps don't shine as much as I'd like, but it's still a nice touch.
Even found a cool site , http://media.io/
It converts MP3 to WAV online.
If you look at my MaLa layout video you might here when I exit it says "Thank You So Much For Playing My Game." (It's Mario's voice from some game).
I think its pretty cool.

It's a shame that the amount of video game sound effects resources are so limited.
Adding these effects to your layout is yet another depth.
Makes things so much more vivid.

I have not had a chance to configure my new PC for my Mario Mame project. However I can't wait to see it all in action.
