Wow!  This looks great (sorry about the prototype aspect)

So, do you have any plans for this?  I could definately see building one!  (I currently have a metal sega naomi cab that I got for cheap because my old cab had an issue, and have wanted to go back to a wood cabinet for a while, but hadn't decided on a cab style)

Also, would this fit a 27" benson?  Its got the angle, so it looks like the back is probably ok (or might need a bit of an extension out the back).

Anyway, good luck!

I have thought about doing this type of project for a while now myself.  Your prototype looked quite nice, but I would be tempted to change the style of the cabinet to something a bit less "massive", considering your planned use of an LCD panel for a display.  Traditional Candy cab's used big CRT's, so they had to look like that.  Your's doesn't.

So I guess what i am try to say is that if you aren't looking for that "traditional" look, think about what you can do to "sexy" up the design a bit, while retaining the sit-down functionality and control placements.

What happened with this, is there a "finished" thread?

I think the answer may be somewhere in 2009. Maybe there should be a thread necromancy awareness thread.
