Passive subwoofer
« on: March 07, 2012, 03:11:38 pm »
So I got the 4.5" car speakers mounted in my cabinet and I am powering them with a class D Tripath amp.   They sound fine but I want to use the cabinet as a jukebox at times so it needs some base.   What are my options?   Are there small cheap passive subwoofers out there that would do the job?  Or should I get a 2.1 pc setup and scrap the Class Day amp?

Mount your subwoofer outside of the cabinet unless you want to replace the hard drive in your machine on a regular basis.

Or better yet, just get a SSD hard drive...

My pc has an ssd for the os but i have a Hyperspin setup so Ssd is not an option.  I use an external usb enclosure.  I guess that could be left behind the cabinet.  Nah.
