Battlezone cab price?
« on: September 25, 2003, 05:00:47 pm »
I have a chance to get a Battlezone cabinet with the side art in pretty good condition and the paint around it is scraped off.  It has no monitor, boards, control panel, or footstep.  It does have periscope part though, which is also in good condition.  About how much does everybody think this would be worth?

I saw that one on ebay too.

It isn't worth that much. Don't pay more than around $25-$50 for it. All those missing pieces really add to the price.

To contrast, I got my Battlezone project complete (minus boards, monitor, and start button) for free.

Do you plan on getting an original Battlezone panel for it? Cause those can go a bit high on ebay.

I was going to try to find the control panel if I could, if I can't get an original, I'll just find whatever I can to replace it.  The cab is just a better deal for me because I live in west lafayette and i can run over with my truck for a quick trip.  If you know where I can get CP, CPO, joysticks or basicaly anything i need that would be great, thanks.

The Battlezone control panel does not use an overlay. The graphics are painted directly onto the panel. So any "Battlezone" overlays you see on ebay are incorrect.

If you are just planning on this being a general Mame cabinet, then forget about both the Battlezone sticks and the periscope assembly. Try and find the face assembly to a non-periscope Battlezone instead (not too hard to find, a Red Baron one will fit too).

From what I saw on ebay it looks like the guy gave up on a Battlezone project. He might very well have the control panel and other missing parts available to purchase.

Also, if you are truly going to do it original style, then you will need a half silvered mirror and a set of backdrop artwork. The monitor in a Battlezone mounts inside the cabinet facing straight up, and then is viewed on a mirror. You might have trouble mounting one for direct view (I don't think there is enough room in there to mount one for direct viewing).

If you don't want to spring for the (often expensive) half silvered mirror and backdrop artwork, then just go with a normal mirror. I can measure mine so you can get one cut if you want.

I went ahead and bought that cabinet, the guy was really cool.  He bought it from somebody who was in teh middle of restoring it.  Anyway, im interested in making it a dedicated cab and im starting to look for parts.  You were right, that control panel is hard to find, I hope I can find one.  As far as that mirror goes i would love those dimensions and anything else that you think might help.  Thanks a lot for the help so far.
