Need Help!

I am currently on my fourth arcade cabinet build!  I've decided to use MaLa for this build.  All the others I have used ArcadeOS, and AdvMame.  I've got mame working in MaLa but can not get any of the other emulators to work...fusion and a few others.  I've read all the wiki, and undlet's guide but to no avail I can not get the roms to load.  The rom list is there but when I press 1 it does nothing.  I go back to the mame emulator, and press 1 and the rom loads.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

Did you set the rom path under options/other emu config????

Do you have Mala set to see all your ROM files as ZIP?  you're not trying to load savesates are you?

Yes I have the rom path under options/other emu config, and they are set to ZIP.  When I refresh the list, they show up.  I hit  the number one to choose the game but nothing happens.  I have the emulators, and the ROM on an external hard drive.  But what doesn't make sense is that I have my MAME on the same drive and it works....I'm baffled.
