Anyone heard of a Hosiden Monitor?
« on: September 01, 2011, 02:48:09 pm »
I recently acquired an arcade monitor but I couldnt tell what kind it was until I took the neck off and it said: Hosiden HPS0199-2. Anyone heard of these types of monitors? If they work well etc? As you all know, my work filter prevents me from doing any type of google searching that isnt bank related.  :-\

Pictures are overrated anyway.

Hey Mike,

I haven't heard of Hosiden monitors before, but a google search points me to believe that the monitor is not a Hosiden, but they just manufactured the socket for the crt tube.

I found this in a Hantarex monitor manual:

Quote
HOSIDEN C.R.T. SOCKET1)ADAPTAT|ON OF THE C.R.T. SOCKET TO THE VARIOUS TYPES USED IN HANTAFÌEXPRODUCTION.Current production of the MTC 9000, whether 14“, 16" or 20”, uses the c.r.t. socket type JEDEC B 10-277(PH) for use with tubes manufactured by PHILIPS, ORION, SAMSUNG, TOSHIBA and VIDEOCOLORtype A51-427X.For ìnterchangeability with previous types of c.r.t. used in MTC 900 and MTC 90OE monitors fitted withc.r.t. socket JEDEC B8-274 (S4), the corresponding plastic socket should be ordered and substitutedfor that already mounted by unsolderìng and re-soldering with the replacement, so avoiding substitutionof the whole neckboard assembly. To order, quote part. no. 34020170 Hosiden Socket type S4

I also looked at the Hosiden website, and it seems they make a lot of connectors, although they do make LCDs as well.

Well, maybe Hantarex is the brand monitor you have?

I knew you would respond friend!  Thanks for the tip. Makes sense regarding the neck at least. Hm. Maybe it is a Hantarex. I couldnt find anything on the boards, or on the tube showing what kind of monitor it was. Is there a standard place where one could look to find this info out? Maybe I just missed it. I do have this disease that sometimes prevents me from seeing something that is right in front of my face.  :lol

From my experiance, it can be difficult to identify a monitor unless you have seen a ton of them already. I personally have not looked at a ton of different monitors. They often put the brand on the monitor with a sticker. If the sticker comes off, you usually have to find some identifier right off of the monitor board.

I know you don't mix well with photos on this site, but if you can get a photo posted up, people like Ken can often tell you the make and model based on a couple photos. It's like magic.

Yeah, youre right about that. I have only seen one aside from this one, and it had a fat sticker on it like you mentioned. Ill have to poke around some more and see what I can find.

Haha yeah you do. Ill try and see what I can do at home regarding pictures and stuff. I have witnessed Ken's magic, it is not of this world. That dude has dabbled in the mystic arts. He is like Doctor Strange of the arcade world.
