From my experiance, it can be difficult to identify a monitor unless you have seen a ton of them already. I personally have not looked at a ton of different monitors. They often put the brand on the monitor with a sticker. If the sticker comes off, you usually have to find some identifier right off of the monitor board.
I know you don't mix well with photos on this site, but if you can get a photo posted up, people like Ken can often tell you the make and model based on a couple photos. It's like magic.
