MaLa Project Help (my multi console arcade cabinet)
« on: August 01, 2011, 05:12:29 pm »
So my love for Mala dictates that every project I will do on a go forward will use MaLa.
It really has everything feature wise I can think of, I love the way it works.
My newest project is another Nintendo cabinet that I am restoring (to a Donkey Kong).
I'll be using MaLa with custom graphics as always.
Where this project differs is I am going to wire 1 Player start & 2 Player start as button 1 & 2.
"Jump" will be Player 1 start and along the bottom (hidden from view) will be ENTER - CREDIT - ESCAPE - and PLAYER 2 START.
I like the idea of two fire buttons because it means I can play more games on the machine.
My dream machine (and future project) is going to be a MAME machine capable of playing newer PC games like Street Fighter IV.
It will have every console from Atari up to select Dreamcast and PS1 games. It will also feature a pair of Aim Traks.
That isn't right now, but that's the goal.

Anyway..................back on track (sorry for straying)

For this project I want to include consoles that require no more than two buttons.
And I need to know what emulators I should be using that will work with MaLa.
This is where I need the help.

For now I have MAME (custom list compiled in ROMlister)
Nintendo (FECUltra)
Sega Master System (Fusion)
and I have the complete ROM set for Turbo GRAFX, however I'm not sure what emulator to use.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks all

Pretty sure mednafen is good for TG16/PCE.  Otherwise there is MagicEngine, but it's shareware.

This is the custom layout I'm going with.

Should be.  I don't use it for TG16, just VirtualBoy.  My command line for that is simply:
Code: [Select]
-fs1 "%path%\%rom%.%ext%"

The fs switch puts it in full screen.  Its a multisystem emulator and as far as I know it detects the system based on the rom you feed it.  You can read more about it (specifically the PCE details) at the link below.

Installed mednafen, and also went with MagicEngine.
Magic Engine is working, but starts out small then goes full screen.
It also displays a number in the top left and a lil audio equalizer graphic on the bottom right.
I'll need to fix that.

Anyone else have any ideas of some consoles I should install ?

I'm yet to go back in and configure Magic Engine.
I need to get some number to stop displaying in the top left, as well as some audio thingy to not display on the bottom right.

Console wise I think I've got some good ones in NES, Sega Master System, and Tubro GRAFX.
I think I'll put on some older stuff like Atari, really thats all I can do that requires two buttons or less.
(unless I'm missing something)

Thanks all
