Use Your Ipod Touch To Turn on Your Arcade Machine

Hello All,

This only works if your have a network in your home, either hardwired or wireless and your machine is connected to it.

I built a machine awhile back called Black's Magic, and have been enjoying it tremendously.  I stumbled upon something the other day and thought I would share.

Its kind of funny as I thought my machine was trully possessed.

I am using Hyperspin as my front end and have ITunes setup as a Jukebox.  Delusional29 had a cool tutorial showing how to control your ITunes with your IPod Touch.

Well, since then I changed my motherboard and beefed up the memory, graphics card and CPU.  After the overhaul, the darn thing kept coming on its on at odd hours of the day and night.  I had to turn the volume down cause it would scare the crap out of my family.  I would wake up and it would be fired up ready to play.  Thing is it didnt do it everyday.

So just yesterday, I was about to go work out and fired up my ipod touch, i accidentally hit the remote button for the Itunes control and surprise the machine started to powered up.

After thinking about it a bit, I realized that everytime the IPOD was left on or my girls were playing around with it, it was trying to connect to the ITunes and in the process it somehow triggers the WOL or wake on lan.

So if your looking for a cool way to power on your rig magically with no buttons or from anywhere in your house, this is a fancy way to show of your skills and for nothing if you already own a Touch.

You may have to configure your MB to enable WOL, mine apparently was already turned on.  Or just try it w/o turning it on it might just work regardless.  Good Luck
