Hantarex Polo 2 25
« on: July 05, 2011, 04:28:26 pm »
I made a post before but didnt get much help so thought I would try again

I have a Hantarex Monitor, the tube states Polo 2 25, the Chassis just has Polo 25".  This monitor worked fine with the Jamma game it came with (Golden Tee Fore 2005), except the picture was off center.

I have connected the monitor to an ArcadeVGA 3000 and I also bought the VGA Amplifier.

I cannot get the monitor to v-sync or h-sync, I can stop the h-sync rolling but not in the correct place, the v-sync I cannot get it stabilise properly at all, the picture wobbles and is ghosted (see video), I also have a pin cushion issue, I was able to solve it but then while trying to sort this the pin cushion pot stopped working.

The thing I noticed with the pots is if I get any where near syncing the screen and i knocked the pot or the remote board it goes out of sync again.

Anyone have any ideas?

No, I thought it was required as Andy at Ultimarc told me I needed it.  I will get a VGA cable to chop up to try it and post back the results.

Thanks Grant, that worked.  I never thought to take it out as Andy at Ultimarc had said it was needed for Hantarex monitors.

Just another Question, I don't know if this is normal but when it switches resolution to anything greater than 288 vertical lines it vibrates, Is this a limitation of the monitor or could something else be wrong?

there is a common fault on polo 2 whereby the picture seems a little unstable but i would expect that to show at any resolution
your chassis being a polo 2 should be auto switching between 15khz and 24khz

Is there anything I can do to test/fix a fault? It seems like only the top half of the screen vibrates, this happens at 640x480, 512x512, 512x448.  As I said in my first post the chassis does not say Polo 2 specifically, just Polo 25", the tube says Polo/2 25.  Could this be the TriSync utility that came with the ArcadeVGA? I choose Standard monitor with that.

well that sounds like a standard polo 1 chassis then as if its polo 2 it will say auto on it
this does sound like a setting problem rather than monitor fault-sorry i do not know much about mame settings

i would suggest contracting ultimarc and inform that you have a bulk standard 15khz polo 1 chassis and then ask what settings he recommends
