Installing mala themes
« on: September 29, 2011, 10:00:02 pm »
I know this may seem like a dumb question, but after searching through the FAQ, help docs, and the theme page (which indicates how to install with a title but no instructions) http://malafe.net/index.php?page=layouts
Searching the boards for the last 3 days while waiting for my account to activate, and I still haven't found the solution.
Currently my mala install is ruined from trying to install themes that haven't turned out, or are wrong size and now I currently have no background and text in funny places.

So I will probably need to reinstall mala, as installing one of the theme packages over rided the default images in "standard". I think it was the retroGUI theme, worked when I first installed it following the help.txt included in the theme files. However the size was tiny, about 600*400 and I couldn't figure out how to increase that to my monitor size.

So my question is: Is there a help page, wiki, document or something that describes how to install themes properly?

Additionally is there a doc that describes how to make your own?

Have you checked out the Wiki

http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Mala_Wiki

Themes in Mala can be a little daunting, but they aren't that bad, esp if you don't try for a resizable theme. Instead, just set to the normal resolution of the monitor you'll be using and design your theme at that size.

Best thing is to put together your background, lay it down, then turn off ALL the Mala controls, except the tree and get it set right, then turn then back on one at a time and position set them right.

It can be a bit of a pain, but take it in small steps and don't try to get everything working all at once and it should go easier
