Translucent buttons for RGB control
« on: July 25, 2011, 05:33:42 pm »
Hi All

I'm starting to plan the cp for a HyperSpin cabinet I intend to build. Two common types of buttons that people refer to are:

1. Electric ICE 2™ Lightable Horizontal Pushbutton with True-Leaf Pro and the RGB drive
2. Ultimarc Ultralux Translucent Illuminated Pushbuttons. Includes LED RBG White

Just wondering which of these the experts on this forum tend to use? Is there much of a difference between the "True-Leaf" offered by groovygamegear and ultimarc's E-Switch microswitches? I don't particularly what to hear a microswitch clicking.

Can both of these buttons be used with either Ultimarc PACLED64 or groovygamegear's LED-Wiz™ 32-port. Ultimately the aim would be to use LEDblinky to control the lighting for HyperSpin

Lastly has anyone that has used illuminated buttons also done the joysticks. If so are there any good 4/8 way varieties around?

Thanks in advance

BobA

I use Paradise Arcade's translucent concave IL buttons with their IL-lumination RGB boards. You can see them in my build thread in my signature and also my MK fight stick button mod. And yes you can use either the LEDWiz or the PACLED64 to light your LEDs with LEDBlinky.

Edited to add link for reference of future readers.

+1. Do the mod if you go this route. It makes wiring so much cleaner.

Wow! That mod looks great. You've given me some real food for thought.
