Put everything back together and still nothing. The monitor sounds like it is coming on from the neck area in back. You can hear pop/static/ting. But there is nothing on screen. Not even any static electricity. I am out of ideas. |

If you crank up the screen on the flyback can you get a raster? |

tried that. nothing. screen looks really dead. I figure the chassis is good because I hear the quick pop/static/ting which I didn't before. is it something shutting off like a protection circuit? |

Update: For clarification, I'm trying to get the 2931 to work again. I have a WORKING 2933 chassis and tube. I did a swap. The 2931 'repaired' chassis with the 2933 tube exhibited the same symptoms. Static/pop/nothing. The 2933 chassis with the 2931 tube worked like a charm. So...something is preventing the repaired 2931 chassis from powering up the tubes. I guess that is fairly good news in that I now know my 2931 tube isn't in the sh#tter. This is soooo fun. I'm taking pics along the way, so once I'm done, I'll do a whole chassis swap tutorial with a 2933 and 2931. |

what about neck glow? is the heater coming on? after the initial crackle can you hear anything... flub flub flub or tic tic tic? can you put a meter on the B+ line and see what it does on startup? spike up then fall off or nothing at all... |
