Ok, I f'ed up. I used the quickres utility that comes with the arcadevga card to set my windows xp resolution at a weird setting that causes the screen to be all scrambled. While I'm in XP! So now I can't click it to set it back to 640x480. Any ideas? I f8'ed and chose 'vga mode' which got me to xp, but when I run the quickres utility, the list of resolutions is blank. Help!! |

smashey smashey? sounds like you might have overdriven the HOT and blown it. but try jumping hsync and Vsync together and see if it comes back. some of these monitors had an issue with the protection circuit too. |

I would remove the PC from the equation entirely since you're clearly having issues with that. Unplug the signal input to the monitor, power it up, and see if it runs. You can crank the "screen" control on the flyback up and see if you get a raster pattern. If you do, the monitor's working. If not, it's blown and needs fixed. It sounds like you probably fed it a signal outside its supported range. This tends to blow up the HOT. Check it, and you'll probably find it defective. It's usually a simple replacement, but sometimes other parts go out, too. |

Thanks for the suggestions. I feel about an inch high right about now. :banghead: I knew better when I was dinking with but much like a gorilla with a hammer, I kept banging away at it until I broke it. The monitor isn't even trying to power up now. No pop, flash, or static electricity... |
