you might hear a faint clicking or tic-tic-tic..... sound from the power supply as it tries to start up go into protection and try to start up again... if so, you likely have a HOT issue. if not... something might be gone in the power supply.

judged by the description you gave surrounding the circumstances of it's demise, i suspect the HOT is blown.

I don't care if the COLD has blown too as long as it can be repaired.  :D  I have just sent the chassis to Jomac in Australia.  Very nice guy.  The postage sucks, but it evens out to what I was quoted in the states.  I'll keep everyone posted.

For next time - set everything up on a computer monitor. Usually on the monitor onscreen display you can call up what resolution its being run at.

Verify it's booting/loading/operating at 640x480. Then just lock it down and switch monitors to your arcade monitor and you will be good.

thanks. the part I can't understand is why a resolution LOWER than 640x480 would cause it to go crazy?
