D9800 with ArcadeVGA3000, Windows 7, mame64 and GameEx FE
« on: April 27, 2011, 11:15:33 am »
Hey all,
Finished my cab months ago and finally decided to tweak all that wonderous software. My setup is D9800 screen, ArcadeVGA3000, Windows 7, mame64, GameEx FE

I need help with getting all the games setup properly resolution wise. I'm having problems with games fitting the screen. There are so many utilities out there I don't know where to start. I read a lot of posts and everytime I'm done with one I have 10 more questions.

Can someone point out steps in general that would let me adjust resolutions automatically? i.e. with ini files and such. I don't care so much about having authentic screen depictions as far as resolutions are concerned. It would be preferable but having the game fit on screen would be a good start. An example is that I can't get Rygar to fit. It goes beyond the left and right edges and I can't even adjust the screen manually to see the whole image. Of course as soon as I remove the mame.ini file it fits but it takes only a small portion of the screen.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. And I will keep reading and educating myself.
Thanks
Stephan

You may want to re-think using Windows 7.

I've just recently been down that road and gave up.  I switched to XP x64 edition.

Turns out my issue was with H Sync. I could not make the screen any smaller using the controls. I ended up having to change the H Sync using the pot on the main board.

Did learn a lot about video through all that reading though.
