Rom set matching mame version?
« on: November 06, 2010, 05:30:27 pm »
Hi just a quick question and appologies if this is in the wrong section,
I have a complete rom set version .139 with mame version .139 and would like to upgrade to mame version .140 now do I have to get the .140 rom set to match or would my existing rom set .139 work in .140 but without the extra ones listed?

The games where the roms have changed may or may not work (really depends upon the game).  New games added wouldn't work.  Most of the .139 roms are in the .140 set.  All you need is the changed/updated/new roms to make a .140 set.

or just stay with 139, its not unusual for people to only update their mame once every year or two.

Thanks for the info, I think Ill stay with the .139 for now as Ive not used clrmame as yet and dont fancy obtaining an entire new set of .140 roms just now, it was really only DK2 that interested me but as Im not that good at the first one Im happy with that for now  ;D
