This is a PS\2 splitter.

I want to be able to use a keyboard hack and also plug in a keyboard if need be.  Will this do the trick?

This will not work for you.
Sorry... :-\
That splitter is for laptops that specifically use it. (Will not work with desktop PCs at all... I've tried...)

There are no cheap retail PS/2 splitters.
There is however a hack if you feel like getting the parts & doing some soldering...
Here it is

Or your easiest bet is to hack a PS/2 keyboard and also get a USB keyboard to do admin stuff...

(I've also hacked a kb for now & plan on getting a cheap USB KB)
I'm not a freak!...
Oh wait...
Yes I am...

Just do a keyboard hack to the PS2 port and then pick up a USB keyboard for $10.

Shmokes has a good point & tmasman is correct - it appears that that is just a splitter & lacks the ICs that would be required to have both keyboards function simultaneously.
I've seen ones that will work on Ebay for a fair price.
I believe that Belkin makes them.
But if anyone wants to build one, here's my tried & true adaptation of an old DIN keyboard splitter (Jay's Simpler Circuit) that work's great.
I have redesigned the schematic & pinned it out for PS2 connectors.
It may look ominous but I have built several of these - even incorporated one into a stick like the hotrod does - with no problems or glitches.
You can daisy chain several of these together.
You can also hot swap keyboards with this splitter.
In fact There is one attached to the keyboard that I'm typing this on right now.
Hope this jpg is not too big.
Enjoy
 :)
