The start of something beautiful, My PInMame cab
« on: September 23, 2010, 12:56:06 am »
SO after searching around the Greater Vancouver BC Canada area for the last month, looked around the usual places including but not limited to Google,  Craigs List, Buy&Sell, used Vancouver and so on and so on. I send out E-mails, called a few places and no one got back to me sadly :(

So I started over again searching Google for pleased south of the border in the Seattle Washington area and I came across a place in Lake Stevens Washington called Classic Amusement, I sent them out an e-mail early in the morning and when I woke up they sent me a list of old gutted Pin's they had and prices. So for the rest of the day we go back and forth with the e-mails making sure they understand what I'm trying to do and then I made an appointment and I drove down today (2 hours there, 1 hours wait at border and 2 hours back).

So worth the time, even after the price of a van rental and the cost of the cabinet it came out cheaper then the few pinball cabinets I found locally. However The cabinet I got is in a lot better condition.

The Fun has only just started and I can't wait to get started on stripping off the old artwork and repainting it :)

I have this forum to thank for the inspiration however... my room mate hates you all now ;)

37" LG LCD fits in perfectly once I took off the plastic casing.

I guess it is pretty safe to say that a 37" decased LCD fits like a glove in a 70's-80's pinball cabinet :)

You doing a 2 or 3 monitor setup?  I suggest to go with 3 like me.

If you have any questions or need any help feel free to ask or check out my Visual Pinball build.  By the way I'm sure your roommate won't hate you once you get it done.

yea mwong168 the 37" LG LCD that I picked up fits in like a glove :) It was meant to be I guess lol

Current system Specs
Intel Core2Quad 2.8ghz
4gb Ram (windows see's 3.2gigs)
Windows XP Lite rev 10 (32bit can't find a 64bit version)
500gig sata HDD for now, however I Plan to use a 120gig OCz SSD, if I can find a good deal on one. Mostly so the tables load up faster.
2x evga 8800 GTS 512meg, they seem to work fine on the tables I've tried so far.
1x LG 37" HDTV 1080P LCD

I plan to use my old 24" LCD as the backglass and a 15" samsung as the DMD

I'm using the i-PAQ as the interface between the buttons and the computer, I've never had any issues with their product and Andy has been great in answering any and all questions I've sent his way.

Currently reading your (mwong168) article on how to setup and tweak the registry to get arcade mode to work correctly.

For mounting the LCD's into the headbox I plan to grab some VESA wall mounting brackets and just put in some spacers so they are flush with the glass with some sort of mat/framing board to fill in the unused space.

It feels like I got a little over my head but thats have the fun / adventure.

My room mate and a good friend love it now that they have tried a star wars / batman table on it, however I got a angry call from my friends girlfriend saying that he's bugging her for permission to build one ;) But I did get her to agree to let him build one if he still wants to do it in 6 months after their kid is born lol (you know she will regret saying that haha)

Right now my head is just spinning over information overload, so much information to take in. Little more then I was expecting but I love a good challenge. I'm starting to ramble on so I will shut up and maybe work on it again in the morning.
