Question for Competition joystick users
« on: July 26, 2003, 06:32:25 pm »
I've pretty much decided to go for 2 Competition 8way sticks and one MsPacman/Galaga 4 way for my cab.
What I want to know is, how is the Competition performance for games like Time Pilot, Raiden etc ( games where you want smooth circular motion of the stick ). I know it is a great fighter stick but what about the others?
Opinions?

My Time Pilot cocktail had happs fighter sticks in it for a while. Not quite as great as a leaf stick, but it is more than playable.

They recently came out of the machine though. I found one correct stick (heavy black balltop leaf switch, non-Wico), and I am installing that, and hoping a second stick will show up eventually. (It took me ages to figure out what kind of sticks it was supposed to have, until finally another Time Pilot cocktai popped up and ebay, and I saw what kind of sticks it had, and went with those).
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

Thankyou. I guess what I really mean is, is the Competion  good for classic 8 ways as well as fighters? I've read OSCARS review but it doesn't really mention this.
I'm more likely to be playing Life Force or Time Pilot myself but I know when my mates come over it will be "hey let's kick the crap out of each other on Street Fighter". I need the best compromise.

if I understand your question clearly ... I think you'll want a 360

I've got 4 competitions in my 4 player cab.  They feel very good for most games, including the type of games you are wondering about.

Thanks Jakobud I was hoping for that. Decision made I think. I'll use Comps.
