GREAT prices on fully functional machines nationwide
« on: July 22, 2003, 12:01:29 pm »
Namco has their own used arcade sales division for selling off the machines in their arcades nationwide. Found this thing this morning. Don't know if anybody else knows about it.

It even has a search engine to search by available games within a certain state. You may not find a particular game you want, but if you're just looking for one to MAME it has them listed in order by price so you can get the cheapest working 25" machine on the list. In Texas that's about $250 for me. NOT BAD!!! (Now I gotta find $250.)

Edit: Might help if I include a link:

The link is posted. If you want to go to the search engine just click on the "Used Game Sales Search Engine" on the left.

For example, I found a dedicated NFL Blitz in Texas for $295. I uses the popular Midway (Hanaho) 25" upright cabinet. Not bad for a MAME machine!

Thanks for the link!

I'm in a bind.  I've been trying to decide whether to pick up the MAME cabinet kit from arcadeshopper.com, the new SlikStik cabinet, or just buy a used machine and convert it.  What to do, what to do.... ???

Cybersleds are so cheap because they are massively heavy beasts that do not come apart. Most people can't even get the things onto their trucks, much less into their house.
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

Well it's got like 10 leg levelers underneath. Just bring some wheels with you, knock it over on its side, put those suckers on, and wheel it out. I know, easier said than done, but it's a thought.

That's the page where they had the super-cheap PCBs like KI2 w/ HDD for $100 and various CPS2 boards for $25-75.. I just didn't want to bring it to anyone's attention here.

Don't hate me for that one -- I just wanted to get a few PCBs before they all got bought up by eBay trolls :P

Keep your eye out there, though; they throw good bargains on the front page sometimes, as far as kits, PCBs, and components, too.

I thought about buying the CyberSled in Longview, TX, too.. and it does seem to come apart -- I read through the manual and it even cites the measurements as being small enough to fit through most doors (good luck with corners :P).

Yeah I saw the prices on their PCB's through a search engine, but I can't seem to browse or sarch their parts from their site. I can only browse/search their full machines. Have you figured out how to do that? I emailed them about a board and never got a reply...  :-\

I found some nice cabinets in my state for around $300.  I've e-mailed them yesterday but haven't heard back.  Anybody know how long it takes for them to respond?

I just used the feedback section to ask them how long it takes for a reply to the e-mail address listed by the cabinets I was interested in.  Let's see if that does anything.

That's the one fatal flaw to namcoarcade sales.. their e-mail reps (or server..?) suck.. they/it *really* suck(s).  Seriously, out of about 5+ e-mails to them, I have only gotten 1 reply.  But.. they told me where to send money for the boards.. and -- I'll happily admit -- once they got the money, the order was quickly processed/shipped and arrived well packed.  Boards looked like they were brand new!

I believe that the one response was a reply to my inquiry via feedback (as to why they didn't reply to my e-mails).. but subsequent attempts at contact through feedback also went unanswered :P

Here is a tip: while they do list a lot of consigned games, if the reply e-mail for a full machine is usedgamesales@namcoarcade and the homepage's arcade listing shows an official Namco arcade in the area, you can probably safely assume the game is there and try calling them directly.. haven't tried it yet myself, but that's only 'cause I decided against buying CyberSled :(

Well I'm not interested in a machine. I'm interested in a boardset. Thats my problem. I'm very dependant on their email replies (which I haven't received).

I just bought a dedicated Skins Game from Namco about 2 weeks ago for $495!  The thing is immaculate.  It was located in amovie theater and hardly ever played.  Even the game manual was still in the cabinet!

The condition of each game varies by a lot, but they all list for the same price.  So you'll be doing yourself a favor by personally checking out each game that you're interested in.  The thing about Namco is that if a phone number isn't listed, then the machine is at a site like a pizza joint, or movie theater.  The ones with the phone numbers are usually a Namco Arcade.

If you see a game that you want to buy, forget emailing them.  I've never gotten them to answer.  However, you can call Kurt (Kirk?) at 630-238-2200 x2317 and ask him about the games.  He's in charge of used game sales.  He'll tell you where the game is located and if you're interested, he'll get you the contact info of the route manager.  The route mgr is the person that you'll meet up with to pay and pickup the machine.

Hope this helps.

That's awesome! Thanks for the tip. You think the same goes for parts such as boards?

For used boards, I'm guessing that the used game mgr will get you the contact info for the route mgr.  From talking to the route mgr, he's the one doing all the maintenance on the machines.  So I'm sure he'll be the one with the boards too.

Okie doke. I gave the guy a call, but he wasn't available. I'll keep trying. Hope I can get it for the price I saw online, though.
