I've got an original 1978 Super Breakout by Atari. It is located in Ferndale, MI.
Here is a little back story:
I used to work for Comcast in the city of Detroit. One evening, in what was long ago a very wealthy neighborhood, I saw an arcade cabinet literally laying on the side of the road. I got out and looked, and immediately called a friend with a truck.
Once I got the cabinet inside, I couldn't believe the condition it was in. I'd say that it would be considered well above average condition for a 30+ year cabinet, let alone one that was tossed out in the street. Given the condition and area, it must have been privately owned.
The board is missing, I searched 1/2 of the block I found it on with no lick. Also, the CRT is broken right at the point in the back, probably from being thrown out into the street. Someone also took out the speaker. Everything else is there and seems to be in working order. I tested the controls with a multimeter and they all appear to function. I've got many pictures attached as well.
The plastic monitor overlays ARE INTACT.
I had originally planned on converting this into a MAME cabinet, but don't want to ruin something that someone could restore.
I'm willing to consider any offers either purchase or trade. My goal in the end is to get a working vertical oriented MAME cabinet.
If you have any advice on what to do with this cabinet, I'm all ears.
Thanks!
