Thanks for all the work on your renamed program.   I installed it on Vista Home Prem and it went thru the config and found my music files but when I run the program and play a song and I get the following error.  The song starts playing and the following error is shown.

Run-time error 75
Path/File access error
E-touch Jukebox has stopped working.

Thanks

Bob

Isn't it funny. A ton of time beta testing and the day it comes out there is a bug. ;) Barcrest is all over it now trying to figure it out.

Fan Art rocks. Thanks Barcrest for listening to my request. ;)

How did I get it to work? I threw up the ACDC.jpg file in the same folder as the FanArt and guess what it reads it and wham. Just make sure that the artist name for the image is spelled the same way as the artist.cvr file.

I'll throw up a link for some fan art for download at 1280x or better resolution for this demo. It autoscales so it fits very well and looks nice.

That does not work per artist though does it? The custom backrounds...

Yes per Artist. Heres A Few. Please forgive the hard to see track listings. This was a farther back beta when artist image wasn't dimmed and the tracks where not brough to the front. From what I recall Barcrest is going to set the transperancy so you can brighten and dim the artist image.

AeroSmith

Perfect Circle

Like I said up above. Just take your images and make sure they are named the same as the .CVR files are for artist and put them in the FanArt folder. For example up above its.
AeroSmith.jpg that goes with the AeroSmith.cvr, PerfectCricle.jpg that goes with PerfectCircle.cvr

Keep in mind if you do not use a background the background defaults to black like it always has.

How to Use Fan Art
« Reply #6 on: March 12, 2009, 11:41:07 pm »
I just thought I'd pass this along with regard to E-Touch and the use of Fan Art.

In the file where you decided to place E-Touch to install to, chances are you used the default

c:\Program Files\E-Touch Jukebox

You will find a folder called 'Fanart'

Just place a .jpg of your choice in the c:\Program Files\E-Touch Jukebox\fanart folder.

i.e. ACDC.jpg
or Aerosmith.jpg

IT MUST BE THE SAME AS THE ARTIST FOLDER NAME AS TO WHERE YOU PLACED YOUR MUSIC!

Example: If you placed your music in c:\my music\ACDC then the .jpg in the 'Fanart' folder should be ACDC.jpg or Aerosmith should be Aerosmith.jpg

Then after running the config to update and load your albumns, start up E-Touch Jukebox

Then after starting up, Press the <ESC> key to got the Configuration Screen.

UNDER THE 'Button Settings' BUTTON, OVER IN THE BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER, THERE IS A SECTION CALLED 'FAN ART'. YOU HAVE TO CHECK THE BOXES FOR WHERE YOU WANT THE FAN ART TO APPEAR

ALSO THERE IS A SLIDER UNDER THE CHECK BOXES FOR TRANSPERANCY. MOVE THE SLIDER TO YOUR TASTE

*** In future releases the Fan Art Slider should be labeled for what it is used for. It had taken me 20 minutes    :banghead: to finally use the slider. Just my Opinion ***

Click the 'Save Settings' button, then the 'Back' button.

Then select an albumn you know you have placed a .jpg for in the 'Fanart' folder.

There you should see your Fan Art in action! ;D

Hopefully this has helped!

Update:

I installed it on my Windows 7 system in Vista compatibility mode and it had an error in the config.   I was using a small version of my music file so I deleted all the albums that had no MP3 info and the program was able to finish the config and run.

Update2:

Got my Vista install working.   Ran E-touch as Admin and the error went away.  Setting up the compat mode in Windows 7 reminded me to run it as Admin.

Update3:

Installed E-Touch on my touch screen juke that runs XP SP3.   Installed without a hicupp.   Great work Barry.  Will give it a good tryout on the working juke.

click on a year and go back and it will work. It defaults to the current year/month and those charts are not availble yet.

New demo attached using the current version of the source. Fixed up a few bugs and added some new features. This one has new search code that is quicker but it does this by loading the whole library in at the start. If you want the old search which doesn't do this then you need to switch the new searh flag to 0 in the freebox.ini file.

Just wondering if you are in the process of switching hosts for the website and forum. It still does not seem to be working. I know you were thinking of changing hosts because of bandwidth issues. Hope you get it up and going again.

I am interested in purchasing the full software from you, but your site is still down.  I have been waiting for a few weeks now for your site to go back up.  Is there any other way I can purchase it?

You can purchase the software directly from me just drop me a mail...

I am having trouble with the site. I do have a new host but the old one has not unlocked my site so i can't pull the SQL information out. I have a back up from mid feb that i have loaded onto the new host and it's looking like i will have to go with that. This means a few posts are lost and some user accounts, i'm not happy about it but it's out of my hands. I'll make an announcement once I have something up.

I have bought previous versions of this software and I will be buying the new versions.............. couple questions

I have never been able to get the fast forward to work, whenever I move the fast forward bar all I hear is the track skipping for like 10 seconds then it plays normal...........

also the quick link for any Artists with the words "THE" in front of their name never works, in the setup I do not have checked replace The Band with Band, The
also all tags are 100% CORRECT. again this only happens to bands with "the" in front of their names

anyone experience this?

ps. Hey Barcrest any news on that crazy looking animated skin someone was working on before? is it progressing?

The animated skin never got released or at least as far as i am aware. The quick link should work, have you tried it with the latest V5 demo linked here? I will double check it's not a bug. The seek bar is flakey i might just lock it so it can't be dragged and have it there as just a visual depection of how long is left.

Barry,

I ve been checking out your software and it ROCKS! One of these days I'm gonna have to build me a touch screen juke. I have a lot of far out ideas but no time to do them right now. One is very futuristic but would be limited to screenh size because of touch screen. I get a chance I will sketch it up and post it.

I was thinking of making a real large one using the touchscreen table idea that i saw on the web. I can't remember the link but basically it has IR Leds illuminating through the edge of a perspex sheet and then uses the wii remote touchscreen mod. You can touch it without the need for IR pen doing it this way and it used a projector for the display. It did seem like a lot of work and expense though but there is the possability for much larger touchscreen displays doing this.

Thanks for the kind words dude.

Is there a website you can obtain this fanart?  Does anyone have a comprehensive list - appropriately tagged - that is available for download.  Fanart is a really kickass feature.

Been a while, Demo updated to V5.00.23  ;D

Details in first post along with download link. You can now operate the juke without having a touchscreen using keyboard inputs to add support for button operated jukes. Right now you can pick and Album then Track then a play option only using key inputs. Support will be extended to search, top 10, genres and history screens if there is enough interest.

When you say a fresh install is recommended due to the amount of changes does this mean all I have to do is run the uninstall app then reinstall the new version or do I need to completely delete the Etouch program folder.  I believe the uninstall app does not completely wipe away folders such as the fanart and skin folders and some config files.

Remove the folder and re-install would be the best. If you are not running a previous version 5 demo then you can just install. If you have the full version then you don't need to worry about this obviously.
