Some questions i hope some one can help me with :)

1. I have enabled light gun=1 lightgun=mouse dualguns=1 in the mame config
the first gun seems to work fine now..
but when im in game it appears the second gun is allocated the same device (mouse) is there anyway to get it load as a separate device?

2. do i need to change any axis data within the game configuration as with alien3 i couldnt get it to register the input at all, if i say select an axis it always comes up with "mouse X"

3. is there anyway to get the x and y axis working with the aimtrak game controller option rather than a mouse, the reason i ask is because my pc games - house of the dead/virtua cop etc (the m2 emulator stutters on my machine) will only allow me to allocate one mouse (i.e player1) if i allocate the game pad to controller 2 the x+y axis dont seem to work - i also tested this from the game controllers section in windows.

4. is there any way to calibrate the gun within mame itself

1) in the Aimtrak utility did you make the second gun device 2?

2) the Aimtrak is seen as a mouse and you have to configure your X and Y in mame (by "tabing" into mame) X axis is left and right, Y axis is up and down.

3) not sure what to do there

4) You can calibrate in mame as long as you didn't dissable the calibration in the Aimtrak utility....you should be able to initiate the calibration by holdint the trigger down for 5 or more seconds.

1) yes, but for some reason it still says mouse1 for both? - ive enabled lightgun_dual .. is there anything else i should do? your example shows "gun2" under both light gun X and light gun x2 does this still work even though the name would suggest its the same device ? :)

2) if i select this option to enter a key it always comes up with "mouse x" even when i point the gun from off screen to up i cant get it to list Y
3) how do you guys play pc games hotd etc? or do you just use the m2 emulator? what about psx how do you get the second gun to be recognised?

ok so i set the following:

which werent set, but i still cant get the second gun to work - is there something i am missing as gun2 keeps coming up as mouse 1 still...

re setting up analog x+y how was this done? soon as i select a key to enter and move the gun up and down it will automatically put mouse X .. never Y

plug just the gun you want to make gun to into the computer and start the Aimtrak utility,,,in the utility click the box at the bottom that says "reassign device id". The next box select device 2 and send. now see if the gun shows up as gun 2.

right finally figured it out.

firstly i spoke to andy and he said he would look in to developing movement of the x+y axis on the game controllers that windows detect (instead of just the mouse) in the next firmware release
so we can play pc games like hotd 2 player + psx etc

the reason i couldnt get multiple guns to work is i was running some ancient mame version so to any one else who has this issue.

download latest mame : http://www.emulator-zone.com/download.php/emulators/arcade/mame/official_version/winmame/mame0136b.exe

enable multimouse, lightgun mouse  and mouse

Then to configure the x+y axis within mame follow the following - http://derrick.mameworld.info/lightgun/Act_Labs_Light_Guns_on_XP.html

works fine in 109 so you should be good.

I am also glad to read that andy is going to make them do a digital up,down, left & right becuase I have ran into a few things already where I thought only if these would register as a joy or gamepad movement signals.

HOTD also works fine with the mouse settings so the firmware update for the aimtrak is not required both guns run dead nuts.

once you get into hotd press F2 and manually set the gun calibration after that there both dead on  :cheers:

I would love to use the AimTrak in epsxe. That would be so spiffy, psxfin just doesn't cut it.
