  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
Well as I was drilling pilot holes into the control panel for some new happ bat-top joysticks I drilled all the way through the wood panel. In my case a melamine covered piece of mdf. The joysticks are supposed to be mounted and screwed from the bottom up into the control panel. But now I have 4 noticeable holes in the top of the control panel.

Other than buying another sheet of wood does anyone have any idea on covering them up? Making it look like it was on purpose in other words. I'm building this arcade for a family member and they are paying for the materials. I'd prefer not to spend another $40 on a board just to fix a couple holes.  :-\

Get some black carriage bolts and just go ahead and top mount?

Yeah, don't fear the carriage bolts. It looks good and adds an air of authenticity to the project.

I have carriage bolts on my panels.......but they aren't loose.....so, kinda lowers the authenticity.

Hahaha! That reminds me that I need to go light up some cigs and put them out on my control panel.

Some people really don't like the aesthetic of the carriage bolts but I love them.  I always use them.

Same here, especially since all my control panels since my second build have been metal.

You sure it's MDF?
