Arcade T-Shirts
« on: July 23, 2003, 02:19:43 pm »
 :o

Greets all.

I just came across this site:

http://www.arcadetees.com/

Apparently this company prints T shirts with various classic marquees on them. They're pretty cheap too.

I'm not interested in picking one up...but someone out there may be!.....enjoy!

Those keychains are kind of cool... to bad they don't have a wider selection. Centipede coffee mug, I know a girl who might like that  ;)

Shouldn't they be concerned about getting permission to use those images? Hopefully they are incorporated and not running the business under their own name. Oh well, not my prob  :-\

You know I thought the same thing about the copyright issue....but should us mamers even be saying such things?.....

....any way, I don't know a thing about the company. I just came across their site today while surfing.

this guy sells on ebay. these are just basic iron-on transfers. you can make them yourself at home.

and, i doubt he has rights to sell these copyrighted materials.

ah well.

I agree with you!

The material being sold in that site, isn't so good as you can think! It's iron-on t-shirts, keyrings that cost them like 20 cents (plastic and paper)! The only thing that seems cool in the site, it's that MK mug!  ;D

1) Go to store and buy Iron-On transfer
2) Place transfer paper in Ink Jet Printer
3) Change printer settings to "reverse image"
4) Print desired image to printer
5) Place upside down on t-shirt ontop of an ironing board
6) Run warm iron in circles over transfer
7) Let cool (I think you need to wash it too???)

You can get a 10pk of transfers for around $9.99-$14.99.

No, it won't last. The more you wash it, the more it will fade. Who knows, maybe they sell better ones these days with protective coatings (seriously doubt it)

Actually they do sell better ones now and you don't have to reverse print on them. They also look a lot better and are a lot easier to iron on. There is no peeling of the backing paper and the ones I did seem to be lasting nicely.

All you need is an inkjet printer, a package a transfer paper, a iron to iron it on, and a t-shirt to put it on.
My statements are my own opinions. They have the value that the reader gives them. My opinion of my opinion varies between foolish and brilliant and these opinions often change with new information.

I just picked up some iron on T-Shirt transfers for my color printer.

I'm going to try to make a few T-shirt and I'll post pics of the results.

I also came across 8.5 x 11" shiny printable adhesive backed  paper for the ink jet. That will be a great way to print/stick MAME art onto my cab.

Me thinks I'm going to decorate my cabby with more stuff (I just hope I don't go overboard!).

I have a feeling he is somehow licensed. I could have sworn I saw somewhere on his site that he doesn't have a more complete collection because couldn't afford some. Sounds like payng for a license to me. Of course... I may be altogether wrong or just plain full of it.

If you want some cool video game tees go here....

http://www.game-skins.com/store/

The most appropriate shirt for this group would be...
http://www.game-skins.com/store/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi?usr=50X2474016&rnd=3361019&rrc=N&cip=63.102.183.164&pg=prod&ref=gssh025&cat=

one of the shirts says:
The code - if you have to ask you'll never know.

Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start

That's just reffering to console games in general right?

(yeah, I had to ask)

It actually refers to Konami made console games.  Many Konami games had the pause-code-unpause cheat in them.

There may have been a couple non-Konami games but I can't think of any. ???
Next I'll be on fries, and that's when the big money starts rolling in.

GREETS ALL.

I made the T-Shirts and I have to say they came out great (they really do look professional).

In addition to the T-shirts I made stickers for my Cab using the same art files.

Here's what I used:
Avery Brand T-Shirt Transers (worked like a charm. Sharp and vibrant).

Astrobright 8.5 x 11" full page sticker material.

I picked up both at Staples. The T-shirt transfers were $22. and the sticker sheets were $8. (+/-).

The art files came from the following web sites:

oscarcontrols.com
mameworld.net
http://www.adfinformatique.fr/english/brothers/wallpapers.html
(I think that's all of them).

In particular, Oscar's site had great high res marquee files that printed super sharp.

All in all, it took about 2.5 hours to make the stickers/transfers.

The t-shirts are a bit of a chore as you have to heat them using steady pressure (and it gets hot kids!) for about 6 minutes (slowly moving the iron around).

Here are some pics.

Questions/opinions are invited!

wasn't that the code for NES Ikari warriors continue?
back to t-shirts...
Funny you guys are talking about this iron-on thing - I made a whole slew of shirts back around Xmas to give to my friends (their favorite games as a theme).  Like bzone marquee on front, screenshot on back sort of thing.  I used our printer here at work.

Problem was I didn't like white shirts, so I had to get a special, more expensive type of transfer for dark shirts - it should be in the same section at officemax or similar places.

I bought the top-shelf ones and they've lasted a while.  There's some fading even though I've washed then inside out.  After the first wash there is a huge difference, especially with the made-for-white-tshirts iron ons.

Bottom line is that it's good for casual t-shirts, but won't look anywhere near as good nor last as long as screen printed.

Fade? Fade?!!!

I'll never wash them! ever!

....but who cares, it's just for fun and the gym. Besides as much of a geek that I can be....I personally wouldn't wear them outside other then for the beach/gym anyway.

I saw the ones for dark t-shirts. They cost a bit more....but not a bad idea if you don't like the white tshirts.

Wash them the first time with vinegar. It sets the ink. They'll fade a whole lot less.

if you reverse it ( down, down, up, up, right, left, right, left, A & B ) you got all weapons...that one alot of people never knew. Or if you are playing a 2 player game, you could press A & B to transfer lives.
