Button mapping display prog.
« on: February 18, 2003, 04:25:34 pm »
I recall seeing that this project was in the works back in the summertime,  but haven't heard anything about it since.   It would certainly come in handy for just about any Mame cab, and I'm hoping it exists!:  a button mapping graphic display program, showing which cp buttons are active for, and what they do in, each particular game you select.

I know quite a bit our people were interested in this....If no one has done anything, I may have to draw up a 2d graphical cp, and change the button label text for each game, and use it instead of a marquee pic or something in a frontend.  I was pretty sure that a database and program were underway tho....
Now witness the power of this FULLY OPERATIONAL Mame machine!

Why when you did.  It's being worked on.  I've actually started working on the code to implement it in vb based languages.

Well, I know the name of project... I know the link.. but I don;t actually visit the link... hence, if you or hc or other controls.dat contributor maybe wanted to chime in with a status... (or a link to the last 2 threads started on this same topic and a stern warning about trying to reply in relevant threads instead of starting new ones =P )

The status is we need volunteers and as a leverage device, the wip dat file won't be released to the general public until we feel that it's complete enough.  :)

The gui itself is a joint project at this point as sirp is making an intelligent data retrival module/class and I will handle the gui (probably directx driven) after he finishes it up a bit.

It will still be a month or so until there is anything useable released at best.
