Mamewah with X-arcade
« on: October 18, 2004, 12:32:47 am »
I've spent a good part of the evening trying to get my x-arcade to work in Mamewah.  No luck.  Mostly, shouldn't the left controller (player 1) scroll through the games?  It does nothing.  I have to use the keyboard which is inside the case, and even then, the games are not responsive to the left joystick.

However, when I run Mame32, it works perfectly in games.  (However, still not on the menus before the games. )  I just have to use the keyboard for game selection.

Please help!

Did you change the "joystick 0" to "joystick 1" in the default.ini file that's in the ctrlr folder of mamewah? If that doesn't work then you'll have to use something like Joy2Key.

Well, I just tried changing that 0 value to 1, but there was no change at all.  I wonder if I need to change the controls in the .ini file.

Also, why do you think it is that the controls work perfectly WITHIN a mame32 game, but not at all within a mame.exe (essentially) game?

You may need to reconfigurere mamewah controlsettings to use numpad instead of arrowkeys with your controller.
Decade Old Work: MultiFE, ArcadeMusicBox
Today Works: Various Spectrum Next games from Rusty Pixels and html5 games.

That is correct, see: http://www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=9337&page=0&view=expanded&sb=5&o=&fpart=1&vc=1

Thanks, that thread cleared things up.  Will probably do the trick.  ;)

You can program the arrow keys on the X-Arcade, not sure what the issue is there...

The problem is that MAMEWAH is expecting cursors, and by default the X-Arcade uses the num. pad keys.  Remapping MAMEWAH's inputs is prob. easier than reprogramming the X-Arcade IMO...
