Wholly E-bay scams batman!
« on: December 03, 2003, 11:05:36 pm »
So This item seems way too good to be true:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3258172764&category=13725

I e-mailed the seller asking about the pin, and got the following response:

Hi,

I've just read your email and I think that we can start the deal only if you understand that I'm a very serious ebay member and for this reason I put pre-approved list, to be sure that the winner will be 100% agree with all my payment and shipping details.
For this item I can accept only money order via Western Union, because I'm in London, United Kingdom, where I've started my own bussiness, which is going pretty well. In a month or two I will open my own store here in London, but untill then, I have to work fast.
The product I have is brand new, warranted by factory (1 year), already packed, and it will come to you crated, for the best protection. Also it will be insured during transportation.
I will send the product via Lufthansa Air Cargo and you will receive it within 48 hours at your door. The shipping and insurance costs are included in the total price.
If you are interested please tell me and we can start the deal.
I've already used this payment method twice while I was abroad.
If you agree with money order I can send the machine in a few hours after I receive the western union confirmation.
Thanks for your attention and I am looking forward to hear from you.
Respectfully,
Andrea Pelucchi

P.S. I attached some pictures for you.
The pictures included with the email were obviously not the same ones as in the auction. (They are pictures from  a e-bayer named "Fun")
Also notice his registered location on the auction page, and his location mentioned in the email.

Yeah.. I'm gonna have to pass on this one. >:(

They should change their slogan to "eBay: You'll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy."

A day or two ago I saw Ms.Pac/Galaga reunion combo for 1200 buy now.  Low low price, email reply was the same template.  Farging Iceholes

Hello Andrea

I am interested. I have a couple questions about the machine however. The pictures you included, look a great deal like the pictures used by another ebay member in a recent auction. Are they pictures of the actual item I would be getting? Also, you mention that it is new in the box. Does this mean that it has never been played?
Please let me know, as I will purchase the item as soon as I hear back from you about the above questions.

Hello Usedelectronics,

The pictures are from the item you will be getting, from the Indiana Jones Pinball machine. I has never been played(of course, it has been played a few times only for testing) and it is brand new.

Hope to hear from you asap,

Andrea

Needless to say, I don't think I'll be hearing from him/her again.

Those pinball scams from England have been discussed on rec.games.pinball many times. It's best to steer clear of those auctions as they are bigtime ripoffs.

people that require payment via Western Union are most likely a scam. I have  a friend who made the mistake of sending $1,000 Western Union for an ebay item... he never saw the item or his money again.

I offer discounted WEB HOSTING to BYOAC members! Only $2.49 a month for a FULL FEATURED account! www.cloud9media.com

LOL! We should be cautious!

They've taken down the auction (as of 9:23 am CST Thursday)
I have changed my nickname to "Cakemeister". Please do not PM the Buddabing account because I do not check it anymore.
