Pretty Good TV at Best Buy
« on: August 16, 2003, 01:18:55 am »
I've been looking for a suitable TV for my cab project... of course I can't find my perfect one which would be...

Black
Speakers below the screen
25"
Not a flat screen
Svideo
Not deep
Turns back on with power
Retains Svid setting
Good picture
Cheap

With 25" the options are severly limited... all the perfect ones seem to come without svid, or just right but flat screen which just doesn't look right - gah.

Well I found a TV I would be happy with in Best Buy last night.

It is a KLH Digital 24" set for $159.00

It's silver - my bezel will cover that though
Speakers at the side --- slim though - total width = 26"
24" --- 1" off, I can live with that.
Nice curvy screen
Svid in
Not very deep at all... 17.5"
Doesn't power back up after power removed
Sometimes remembers being on svid... odd that
Very good picture with svid
Good price on a ~25" TV

All in all given the options in this size range which are limited this seems like a good set to me.

Purchased in S.CA

It does not seem to turn back on in svid mode after being off for some time - I can live with that, but I would much rather it remembered.

I am using an old Radeon VE with Svid out.

I got it at CompUSA Spring 2001. Had it a while now, it was just gathering dust in my parts box.

I like the Toshiba's at Best Buy. But it's about 80 dollars more. The toshiba will retain S-video after powering off.

the klh is the exact same tv as the apex 24" so it doesnt retain the video settings when you shut it off, but other than that it is a nice tv, i took the bakc off mine and although i was super nervous it was easy and made a huge size difference.

for the money it rocks

Watch for open box items at best buy.  I bough a 27" sharp that was normally 260 for 190 because it was the display model.  It fit like a glove in my cab and and looks great -- superb s-video image quality.
