Replacing a Dynamo "cut corner" CP with a custom built CP?
« on: January 28, 2010, 07:22:41 pm »
I know that I have seen others on these forums do this but my searching has been an exercise in futility now that I want to do it.

I want to cut a "shelf" so to speak out of the front of my dynamo cab so I can attach a "regular" style CP. The cut corner CP that I have has been modified (poorly by myself) to have 7 buttons and a Joystick per player, P1 and P2 buttons along with 2 other buttons that I plan on using for exit, pause etc. I want to build a larger panel to accommodate roughly the same buttons along with a spinner and trackball.

Looking at my cabinet I cant decide where to cut and how far I will need to go down the front of the cabinet to get a CP to attach and not look retarded.

There are sort of blocks attached along the inside of the cabinet to support the existing CP. I think I would have to cut that entire section out since I see now way of detaching them without damaging the sides they are attached to.

Any suggestions?

I am wondering if it may be easier to just keep this cabinet with its current CP and build a bigger badder cabinet next time.

If I have posted this in the wrong area, my apologies. My logic is that I have a question about cutting wood therefore post in the woodworking section right?

I guess I should note that although it may be the most wonderful tool on the planet I don't own a router. Hopefully this will change if I ever get enough extra money together to get the Dewalt I have been eyeballing for a while now.(I have added it to my Amazon cart thanks to NiteWalker's price watch thread) I would be using my jigsaw for this since that and a table saw are the only saws I own
What if this weren't a hypothetical question?
