I cannot get the sound in MAME to stop stuttering. I have read up on some advice from previous topics and have applied all that advice, and still nothing.

I am currently using a very recent version of MAME32/UI but have tried all options on versions going down to lower than .90 and still the same issues remain. Tried various combinations of Throttle, V sync, Sync sound to video, atuo refresh rate, lowering latency of audio etc etc. basically all combinations of audio / sound settings within MAME has brouht no joy. The PC spec is pretty good (P4 2ghz with 1gig RAM) and have tried with both an older ArcadeVGA and also with a decent regular gfx card running soft 15khz.

Clutching at straws, I tried re-installing the latest drivers for my soundcard (Soundblaster Audigy 4) but to not avail. Anyone got any more thoughts? (game used for testing was SF2)

**********EDIT************

Have sorted it now. In the end, I re-installed MAME from scratch and re-assigned all the rom and artwork dirs, and it solved it! It seems I had been just chukcing new mame .exe's into the current dir, and it had all goten very messy with the configs and inis I guess.
