Newb Minipac help
« on: December 22, 2009, 09:47:28 am »
Hi, I am currently building my first arcade MAME cab. I am having some issues trying to get my control panel to work. I had a scan through other threads to find help but cannot find an answer.
I have wired my controls together using my Minipac kit and when I connected it to my PC and ran MAME none of the controls worked.
I have attached some pics if anyone can help me find a solution.
Many thanks.

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

Stupid question up front (not intended to insult your intelligence):
Did you plug it into the correct port on the minipac? There's a keyboard port and PC port. Use the PC port.

Also, are you connecting via PS/2 or USB?

I plugged it into the port the diagram showed. A light came on when I did plug it in.
One thing i am thinking is when connecting to each switch in a daisy chain is do I have to make sure each switch can connect together without leaving out a connecter or is that fine?. You should be able to see what I mean on the diagrams.

Sorry. Mega newb here.

It works and works great.
The problem I had was with the frontend I am using. It didn't reconize anything when I pressed a button. I got a game on and its working good.
I just have to mess around with inputs on the frontend.

I appreciate the help Ginsu Victim  :).

I'll post some pictures of my cab when it's complete.

Glad you got it working. I was preparing questions so we could dive in and figure it out.
