Street Fighter III 3rd Strike HELP
« on: December 18, 2009, 11:01:05 pm »
I've got all the files I need at this point. The US version is 'missing CHD or ROM files' even though the Japanese versions work no problem (its NO CD, but the rom name is sfiiin, which makes it a child right? but the parent doesnt run?)

I've got an unzipped folder named sfiii3 in my rom folder (where there is a zipped rom of the same name)

In my unzipped folder I've got 33s000.chd (66,261K), sf33usa (a BIN file, 512 K), sfiii3_usa.29f400.u2 (512K), and sfiii3_usa.29f400.u2 (one character different from the last filename)

All of the tutorials I've seen online deal with different files and results... some even say I need the file zipped INTO the orig rom file... ugh I'm starting to get lost through all the various copies of tests! nothings working! desperate here!

also if this post is 'over the line' let me know

Well, I know '33s000.chd' is for roms titled sfiii3* (sfiii3a, sfiii3e, etc)

And as an experiment. I completely moved all of my street fighter 3 CHD's out of the roms folder.  The rom you are trying to load: 'sfiiin' still works for me,  So it is indeed no-cd, and no-hdd as well.  Perhaps your rom needs to be updated?

as far as using chds goes when you need to they generally use the same name as the rom.

so if the street fighter 3 you're loading is from the rom 'sfiii3a'  then you'd need to have the proper chd files in mame/roms/sfiii3
