My Town Sucks
« on: November 23, 2009, 12:59:24 pm »
Just a note to voice my frustration.  I can't find anywhere within 100 miles that sells MDF (other than in tiny strips).  I guess I'm gonna go with plywood.  I hope it paints well.   :banghead:  Stupid town.

I live in a big city, so it's not so much an issue.

Check with your local retailer of plywood for "A-B" plywood.  One side is sanded and finished, while the other is rough. Might cost a bit more, but would save you some hassle.

It might be called something different where you are, the local Home Depot calls it "A-B finish", iirc.

Someone else please feel free to correct me, I purchased my plywood for my cab about 5 years ago.

Picked up 3 4'x8' sheets of 19/32" of plywood yesterday that the guy said painted really well.  I took them over to my father-in-laws because he has all the tools.  He wasn't feeling real well then, so we will probably do the first cut sometime next week.  The more I think about it though I may just use some sort of laminate instead of paint.  Anybody have any luck with this?

I haven't done laminate myself yet but every project I have seen that has used it looked really good. I'd highly recommend the laminate route;)
