Critique my CP & Marquee
« on: August 21, 2009, 06:10:52 pm »
I'm at a standstill at the moment as my PS skills are not that great...pretty much busk my way through it. I see so many good designs on here and the colours really pop and things have real depth to them.

I've attached my w.i.p CPO & Marquee. Theme based on Fett from star wars. Red Batops, Red main buttons, Black credit buttons in each corner and white starts in the middle. They were Black also but, removed them after I put them in as I noticed the print was scratching off  :dizzy:

The CPO just seems to be not quite there. Not happy with the Fett helmet guns motif as it just looks blurred out right now. I don't know how to make it crisp as it would probably look 10 fold better. The colours don't seem to be separated as a whole. The red circles are the button placings, Red Buttons. I think I was hoping for a vivid vector style but, grime effect for the cpo.

The Marquee seems to be a bit flat and lifeless. Any suggestions?

I've also attached a small very arcade styled Boba Fett character I found which looked quite cool. More vector style, perhaps more suited or direction change?

In a word I want vivd colours and impact..something I'm just not feeling with them currently.  :embarassed:

I believe CS4 is the latest Photoshop version. I only have PS6 on a old Quicksilver G4  :lol  I think Gimp on the PC is similar and free

Nice work so far...

A few ideas:
- shading or textureing the player1 & player2 labels rather than just block color.
- thin black stroke outline on the red portions of your buttons (they are larger than your button holes, or same size?)
- thin black outline or texture the yellow symbols at bottom corners.
- make the bobba fett logo double size, even if it is partially cropped by your button outlines it will still be very recognizable.
- simulate wear holes (little missing bits) on the bobba logo

- don't touch the background.  it is perfect :P

Sorry bud! I like the CP, quite different nice colours, although I may play around with the halos a little bit for strokes, etc.

The marquee is also quite good although Boba looks like he has been blown up and patched together. You need a high res of Boba. I will try to find one for you.

I like most of the CP design, but that bobba fett outline at the bottom just doesn't seem to fit in to me.

It almost looks like a coat of arms, which would imply a completely different look for the CP in my eyes.

Maybe that's an idea. Go with a more medieval theme but with a Star Wars/Firefly low tech/futuristic thing.

I dunno. I'm blathering.....
