Vision Pro MTG-2902SN Problem

I just bought this monitor a couple weeks ago and already I'm having a problem. I plugged it in before I bought it and the menu popped up fine. I plugged it in after I bought it and the menu came up fine. I set it on its back, monitor facing up towards the ceiling, so I could dremel some small notches in the frame to make it fit in my Japanese cabinet. When I plugged it in after that, this is what I see:

The colors you see are the menu screen.

If I plug in a game or a PC to the VGA slot, you can see a change in the overall screen color, but you can't make anything out.

Any ideas?

I have one of these monitors, but I don't do Youtube or flash videos.  If you just post a picture or something, I'd take a look.

Its kinda hard to describe, that's why I used a video
The screen scrolls from top to bottom very fast and you can just barely make out the menu box. If I hook up a game, the screen will slightly change color based on what is supposed to be on the screen, but you can't make anything out.

I didn't say I don't do video, I said I don't do FLASH video (I don't have the flash plugin installed by choice).  A picture or two still might be useful.

Sounds like something got knocked loose.  You shouldn't set an open frame monitor on its back like that.  The frame (other than the mounting rails) isn't really designed to handle a ton of weight.  It's mostly there to protect the neck of the CRT and to give a place to mount the chassis board.

Make sure the neckboard is on firmly, all plugs are tight, and that nothing silly happened to the yoke.

I tried to take a picture, but it really doesn't show what's happening very well. Here is a link to the video in .avi format.

Some people on other forums think the magnetic field created by my dremel may have screwed something up.

Ok, that is really weird.

I wouldn't expect magnetic issues to do anything like that.  Generally, stray magnets don't cause anything a degauss can't solve.

If you were dremeling on it with it on its back, that means that any metal filings you created had the opportunity to fall straight down onto the board.  Check for that. Careful application of compressed air may be useful; just make sure you don't wedge chunks of metal into worse places.

While you're at it, check for cracked solder joints.  Stressing the frame like that could flex the PCB and break joints.

MonMotha - How far back are the convergence rings on your monitor compared to his?

Something has definitely come loose...... check FOCUS and SCREEN wires and pots from the flyback to the neckboard, etc.

Pretty far back, but not as far as shown in his pictures.
