Operation Thunderbolt - What type of monitor?
« on: July 01, 2009, 09:29:49 am »
klov.com says it uses a 19" WG mirrored-in standard resolution, raster monitor.  I guess my only question is - what is a mirrored in monitor?  Is this just a regular 19" WG monitor?

I'm asking because there is a Operation Thunderbolt for sale in my area but seller says it probably needs a new monitor.

Thanks

It's a monitor that reflects off a mirror to give a specific effect.  Space Invaders is an example.  So is Terminator 2.

And just because a seller says it needs a new monitor doesn't make it so, it probably just needs repair.  Few monitors are so far gone they need replacement.

But the actual monitor itself is simply a 19" standard res, raster monitor then?

I'm just trying to get an idea of "worst-case" scenario total cost for this game.

OK I just talked to the seller and he has fessed up to the issues:

1.  Sound - he says it skips around.  Not sure how to fix - any thoughts?

2.  Monitor - there are lines running across monitor and the tint seems off.  Does it just need a cap kit maybe?

Thanks!

Impossible to tell.  Lines across monitor could be screen voltage turned up too high or a shorted transistor or board faults.  Sound faults sound like board problems.

Since it clearly has issues, I'd offer a fairly low amount.  How much is he asking?

And it's a big cab too.  http://jhanson.com/images/pictures/arcade/thunderbolt/thunderbolt.png

Is the monitor changing like this every turn on, or is the guy lying?
