MAME Monitor Problems

I'm a regular at KLOV and was suggested to get some help here.

Trying to get my MAME setup to work with an arcade monitor using a JPAC. I have a G07 that I am using. I am using the 6200 Nvidia PCI card on my older PC. I have installed soft15khz. When windows boots up, I get a yellow screen with vertical roll. I can tell the Windows is working because I can see the pop-up window in the bottom of the screen.

Any suggestions on what my resolution and color needs to be?  I have it set at 640 x 480 and 32 bit.  This is the lowest and highest I can go before my vga monitor on my PC goes black.   

I have included a picture, but don't know if it will help or not. The actually screen is more yellow than in the picture.

Well, you need to be lower than that for sure.....your vga monitor most likely will NOT work in the range of that G07, so expect that.

Are you connected to the G07 via a breakout cable or what?
Have you double check the pinout?

I don't see much of any colors in your pic, whether the image is stable or not you should see red, green, blue, etc.

You may also have to adjust the Horiz Freq on the G07 as they tend to be finicky anyways.

Thanks for the response.  I am newbie on this MAME installation and that might be my problem.  Here is my setup:

I have the arcade game setup like normal.  I inserted the JPAC into the arcade harness instead of a PCB.  Ran a VGA M/F cord to the JPAC and to the PC.  Is this wrong?  Should it be a VGA break out cable to the G07?

Well, I'm not big on the MAME stuff myself, just thought I'd give a bump on your situation.

That sounds right to me, I just asked about the breakout cable thinking you were coming straight off the video card (vga port) directly to the monitor.
Verify that your video card is even capable of the lower resolution with soft15.

Aren't there LED's on the JPAC to show whether it is receiving an acceptable signal or something like that. (may want to double check that)

Did you hook up the USB or PS/2 cable to the JPAC?

The cable wasn't hooked up to the JPAC, but switched it and getting the same result.  I am not seeing any flashes on my JPAC as it boots.

Are both LEDs lit?

Neither LEDs are lit, and neither of them even flashed once.  So, the problem might be the JPAC?

Just to cover the basics:

1) the PS/2 cord is plugged into both the computer AND the J-PAC, correct?

2) the video cord is plugged into both the computer AND the J-PAC, correct?

3) the J-PAC is plugged into the JAMMA harness the correct orientation, correct?

4) You don't have the original cabinet power supply still hooked up, or if you do it's not corrected, or if it's connected, you never connected it  backwards while it was on?

Because at least ONE of those lights should be on.

Thanks for the checklist.  Hate to say it, but I was missing step one.  I didn't have the two connected together.  Tried it tonight, and the picture is coming up.  I just need to mess around with it some more to see if it will sync correctly.  I'll try to look at it again tomorrow.
