NBA Jam and TMNT in the same cabinet
« on: November 30, 2009, 08:53:21 pm »
Hello everyone, I just picked up a 4 player NBA Jam cabinet on Craigslist.  I don't think its an original NBA Jam cabinet because the control board looks kind of hacked together and some of the things in the manual (service mode switch and coin jam switch aren't present).  After replacing the power switch and swapping the 3p start with 4p start, everything works great.

I just won a TMNT PCB on ebay and I'd like to install it in the cabinet and be able to switch between the two relatively easy but I haven't been able to find a multi-jamma adapter that supports four player games.  From studying the pinouts in both manuals, the 3P and 4P for TMNT are wired differently than NBA Jam.  I don't mind going into the back to swap the jamma harness from PCB to PCB but it seems like I'll need to build an adapter for 3p/4p.  I've been scouring the forums and I thought I read somewhere that I could just hook up 3P/4P in parallel to both boards.

Does anyone have experience doing something similar that can get me going in the right direction?

Thanks, I've read what he did with his MK cabinet and I think I know how to proceed.  Does anyone know what type of connector the TMNT board uses for 3P/4P so I can get started with making an adapter?

Hey man, I have a 4 Player Konami cab with a button above the coin door that toggles between TMNT and simpsons. I have a Jamma linker thing and each PCB has its own 3/4p kick harness that goes to the CP.

Unfortunately I'm not really pro at this stuff, so I havent really gotten into the guts to figure out how it works (itll be mamed soon anyhow) but it seems like what you're trying to achieve is possible

I have  a NBA Jam  Tournament 4 player with all manuals and schematics that I was going to sell.  If you need some pics or something that may be able to help you with your project let me know.  I can take pics of certain boards and connections for you.
Let me know  thanks    If you need some parts off it let me know, I have no need for this machine. (the monitor broke and I can't afford the repair)

Does it have a full sized control board?  The cabinet I have (an old Konami of unknown origin) has a pretty hacked together, cramped NBA Jam control board (see pic) and I would love to get my hands on a full sized one!

Yes it is full size and still original. Control board is 37 1/2 inches by 13 1/2 inches. Cab has keys, books etc.
I have more pics if you want them.  Buttons have been removed for cleaning, I just need to re install them.

mattncsu03,

Where do you live?  That crazy CP looks awfully familiar to me.
