I am able to use this fine on my laptop, which is a P4 1.7 GHz with 1 GB of RAM and Intel GMA915 onboard graphics, using Windows XP SP2.

On the other hand, my arcade computer, a Celeron 2.6GHz with 2 GB of RAM and a nVIDIA GeForce4 MX420, running a stripped down version of XP, crashes everytime I try to load a game.

The emulator window seems to get smaller like it's resizing for the game, and then, before showing anything in game, I get the generic error "emulator.exe has encountered an error and has to close."  The only details are various memory locations and no mention of a specific cause.  I have tried enabling and disabling all the options in the configuration .ini file, but it has made no difference.

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with having most of the services and features of Windows disabled.  I have MaLa set as my shell.

Has anyone else had this problem?  Any suggestions for correcting it?

EDIT:  I did look at the Nebula homepage forums for support, but everything seems to be in Spanish.

EDIT2: Could it be the pixel shader problem mentioned in another post?  It appears that the MX420 only supports PS1.1 and Model 2 now requires PS 2.0.

If it is a pixel shader issue and you have a fast enough system then download 3danalyzer:

Select the nebula exe file and try either "emulate pixel shader caps" or one of the pixel shader options.

Yep, this is what I went off to do after posting, since I'd used 3DAnalzyer before to get regular PC games to play that require pixel shaders.  Sadly, the Model 2 emulator just crashes to the desktop with no error if I try to run it with 3DAnalyzer, even if I don't use any of the switches.  That's on the laptop, which runs it fine otherwise.

I then tried to find older versions of Model 2, but as the poster in the other thread mentioned, they don't seem to archive the old ones and everywhere I find it online seems to be a direct link back to the programmer's site.

I'm out of ideas, except for updating the graphics card.
