Hey everyone, new member here.

 I think I've been looking for help in the wrong places, someone recommend this site and it seems like the perfect place. I'll re-post what I have asked and see if anyone here can help.

"I've got one of those cga to vga converters so I can use my lcd monitor in my cab. The thing works great(galuda looks amazing). I want to get a ps2 to jamma adapter so I can play other shooters that were ported to the ps2(gradius series, ibara, mushi). Now I know that the ps2 has trouble with vga, but in theory the "video" signal would be coming from jamma NOT the ps2. Is that correct?"

UPDATE today: 4/29/09

I got the ps2 timer and hooked it up. After setting my ps2 to rgb out the colors look great but the picture is weird on my vga monitor(I tested it and it works fine on my dynamo w/ WG monitor). The picture seems to jump all over the screen and eventually just freezes. My vga monitor(samsung 953bw) DOES support sync on green.

What could be the problem? Is there a way to "boost" my ps2 signal so the vga monitor will work?

It has been suggested that I would need to seperate the H and V sync from the green. How would I go about doing this?

My setup is as follows: PS2->Timer->CGAtoVGA->Vga Cable->Monitor.

Basically, everything works except the "syncing(i think)" of the video on my monitor. Any help would be great.

THanks.

Why are you using the CGA adaptor for the PS2?

If I understand this right, CGA is an RGBI signal, so the CGA adaptor is converting RGBI to RGBHV.  Meanwhile the PS2 in RGB mode puts out RGsB.  So you're putting RGsB into an adaptor designed to convert RGBI into RGBHV.  Seems to me that that'd be your problem.

You need something to convert RGsB into RGBHV directly. o.o;

I'm not sure I follow, but I'd like to understand what you mean.

I have a ps2 timer that I want to play on the cab. I have a lcd monitor as the cab monitor. I have to use the cga>vga to get a video signal from my jamma to the cga monitor.  I originially had the converter in the cab so I could play my regular jamma pcbs on the lcd.

There is no way to really output vga directly from the ps2(as straight ps2 vga support is awful and only supports a hand full of games). Is there a better way to do this?
