VESA mounted LCD

I thought I asked this question once before but I guess my SearchFu must be broken.

Looking at a number of cabinets out there, it eventually dawned on me that I haven't seen anyone use the VESA mount for their internal LCD mounted arcade cabinets.

What I mean is... given a "classic" style cabinet. I can't recall any project that mounts an LCD inside said cabinet with the VESA plate. The obvious exceptions are, of course, those cabinets where the monitor is external and a couple of rotating LCD cabinets. But otherwise. I do recall a number of projects where a sub-frame was constructed to hold the LCD in place and another where a decased (actually an LCD from an arcade supplier) with frame mount points was used.

So can anyone recall a project with a traditional non-rotating internal mounted VESA mount LCD monitor? I definitely get the feeling I'm not looking at the right projects because I know they're out there.

I think using the VESA mount is the best way. It is the only way to mount a screen not voiding warranty! And it is really easy. Success depends on the model, and some LCD's do not even need a seperate vesa-plate, as a perfect one can be found in the foot already.

After some additional searching, I did find GalaXbox, but it wasn't quite the example I was looking for.

My thoughts exactly. Given the growing prevalence of VESA mounts, it begins to make more sense to leverage a standard mounting method that easily allows swapping monitors rather than fabricating a new frame that may or may be compatible with a replacement LCD screen.

If I settle for an LCD in my cab at some point, I already had VESA mounts in mind. Probably just a board with the mount and L-brackets fastening it to the cab.
