Author Topic: Thoughts on Heroes 3 / New Knight Rider (Read 5023 times)

Heroes, for my money, has made a hell of a comeback. Period. I don't really understand how it is that Nathan is still seeing Linderman (I did miss seeing part of the premiere), but I don't care....McDowell is just awesome.

Knight Rider: We've seen several people try to remake "old 80s shows." Glen Larson, again IMO, is giving everyone a lesson in how to remake your past hit. You start by involving it's orginal creator. I said after that movie that I couldn't wait to see this new team on regular "Knight Rider" missions, and so far they've not disappointed.

The only thing I want them to move away from over time is this government cover up crap. Just send Michael and K.I.T.T. out to stop ANY bad guy - they don't have to be terrorists every week! Other than that, the one liners have been pretty good in past weeks, and I think Kilmer and the new Michael Knight are really beginning to get the hang of how important their interactions are. Kilmer's K.I.T.T. may come off as just a little too computer for some, but there is the idea that this new AI car is having to "learn" about friendships, etc....

Bottom line: man I hope it lasts - it's been a fun three weeks so far.

Heroes is going good. It's kind of a rocky start, but it's better than last season. As for Knight Rider...it is teh lame! It's Knight Rider...not effin' Transformers! The story sucks, the car sucks and I hope it doesn't last the season. I'm just glad that there are other good shows on for me to watch/record.

Couldn't agree more. Last season turned watching Heroes into a chore, so much so that I put off watching the premiere like it was dishes that needed washing. But it's been moving at a brisk pace with some interesting stories without any new heroes that bring nothing to the table (i.e. "The Wonder Twins"). I'm actually looking forward to new episodes.

And Linderman just appeared one day and only Nathan can see him. I knew they'd work him back in somehow. You can't not have McDowell.

In the pilot, Knight Rider had potential right up until that ---That which is odiferous and causeth plants to grow--- nonsense with KITT on fire and putting the fire out by taking all the air out of the tunnel. A transformer wannabe, I can tolerate. A car with a revving engine able to operate in a vacuum is not tolerable. Oh right, don't forget to strip the main characters down to their underwear while panting, sweating and slipping around on leather seats for the sex appeal.

Don't get me wrong I loved Knight Rider as a kid. Now that I'm adult though, the writers better do a better job making the show believable enough to make a self driving, transforming, uber car more believable.

They ---fouled up beyond all recognition--- it up last time by making it a damn Chevy commercial, and they're going to ---fudgesicle--- it up again.

Heroes is looking pretty good though.

The Knight Rider comeback movie last year was so bad that I didn't even bother watching the new show. Did they significantly improve it since the movie?

As for the new season of Heroes...let's just say I haven't cared for this season so far. I even rewatched seasons 1 and 2 shortly before season 3 started, but I feel like I have to forget the earlier seasons in order to begin to enjoy this one. The same thing goes for the new season of Prison Break.

I'll concede the KITT on fire scene in week one. Damn that went on for a LONG time. Even so, though, I refused to give up, because to me week one felt like a finale to the movie more than a stand-alone episode (which I thought was a REALLY stupid way to start, but whatever).

Since then, though, the episodes have been better. I really think the key to success is to get FLAG back to being what it was originally - an organization OUTSIDE the government's reach. Old man Knight must be rolling over in his grave knowing they've joined forces with the FBI!

Yes, btw, there was a very hot woman in the car with him during the fire scene. Might as well have had her in a transparent bra and panties as "lacey" as she was.

I'm really digging this season of Heroes so far. The first season was mind-blowingly awesome, the second was mediocre with a few bright spots, but this one has been a LOT better than I thought it would be.

I think the second season ruined Heroes for my wife, since she doesn't even like this season so far. (Especially with the return of Adam, who she couldn't stand)

That is almost word-for-word my beef with the new KR. Why does every freaking show have to have THE CONSPIRACY in it? I mean, if you want it, fine...introduce it later on. Let the show stand by it's own before putting in a plot device like that.

Ok - time to revisit this post.

Over the last 2-3 weeks, the new Knight Rider has been dropping the conspiracy storlyines. If you missed tonight's episode, you missed one of the gems of this season, IMHO.

The writers are getting REALLY good at doing what the original was good at - making you think things might be wrapped up, but throwing just enough of a line to keep you curious as to how / why it's NOT over yet. Next week promises more of the same - no coverup stuff, just good old FLAG storylines (with the criminals being simply on the FBI's most wanted list perhaps).

SPOILER ALERT BELOW

Plus, last week we learned that K.A.R.R. is NOT dead / demolished...and I'm just waiting to see the imminent return (I figure near the end of season 1).

If ever there was a time to give a show another chance, this would be it. I cannot lie - the last 4-5 weeks have been good, but the last 2-3 again have just been incredible and tons of fun.

This is a whole different KARR. I'm glad they used the name as an homage, but I'm curious to what direction they'll take it.

It would be really cool to have it voiced by Peter Cullen, but I doubt that'll happen.

While I was excited after the first 3 or so episodes of heroes this year, it has REALLY started to suck. I can totally understand why NBC canned the creative leads.

The show hit an all-time low for me when the emo goth walked into Sylar's Apartment. First off, he had a look on his face that showed he expected to have sex with Sylar. Then he proceeded to display the DUMBEST super power the world has ever seen! The Southpark guys should be proud though, since their song, Fingerbang, has a new mascot.

The dialog the last few weeks has been really, really bad. The "you're grounded' line from the previous week really grated on me, along with pretty much any line Arthur Petrelli says. And yes, I noticed who the writer was of that god awful dialoged ep - hence why I was happy to see the exec. producers go.

And lastly from season 1: ARTHUR PETRELLI COMMITTED SUICIDE!!!!!!! That was a major part of the development of Peter! They thought he was unstable and would commit suicide just like his dad!!!! Holy ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---! How can they ---fudgesicle--- that up so badly!?!?!?!?!

Eeehm, I've seen all the new KR episodes and like them. On the other hand, I haven't seen season 2 of Heroes yet. Can we split this thread in two please? I hate to get spoilers but I'd love to discuss Knight Rider.

On an NBC related note, they cancelled My Own Worst Enemy after only four episodes!

Why don't they give shows a chance to draw an audience anymore?

Next to Burn Notice, it was my favorite current drama series, and was consistently better than the Heroes episode it followed.

I enjoyed the Black Donnalys... Decided not to watch Worst Enemy because I knew this would be the outcome.

NBC is the new Fox when it comes to cancellations. They just need to accept they will never have Friends style ratings again.

Jay Leno mentioned last night that they were going to "re-work" the new Knight Rider. He mentioned some actors would be leaving and new ones would be hired. He didn't go too far in to it...just mentioned that last week the show as "doing great" and his week its being "tweaked".

As for My Own Worst Enemy... it sucked. I watched the first, thought it was maybe 7/10.... saw the 2nd and got bored 4/10... watched half the 3rd and turned the turd off. Hell, they pumped that piece of ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- for 3 FREAKIN' MONTHS before it even came on air. I can only imagine the $$$ they pumped in to the promotion of that turd.

They did the same for Chuck too, and Chuck is the best show on TV.

Of course, the ads for Chuck made me NOT want to watch it. I only started watching because IGN kept giving it very high reviews.

If even a tenth of the technology in the old Knight Rider were available now, it wouldn't manifest as as car. It would be hypersonic commercial transports, truly wearable petabyte processors, and orbital habitats and sky elevators. If even a little bit of the defensive features of the new KITT were real technological capacities, it would mean wearable and morphable tank round-stopping body armour, and perhaps even insights into warping space on a macro level.

While KARR's appearance last night was trivial, interesting things may have been set in motion...god, I hope so.

The days of Michael Knight hunting down terrorists are OVER... REPEAT OVER!!!

Sara, the good doctor's daughter, has found herself with a huge inheritance fund...with which she is to restart the Foundation for Law and Government - in other words, FLAG's back in business, and it was made clear they answer to NO ONE...and no one even knows they exist. Their new "prime directive" is to follow old man Knight's plan that "One man can make a difference," and the remaining shows will apprently be this new foursome's decision as to what direction they go in.

So the group now consists of Sara, Mike, Billy, and the asian girl comp whiz (I'm sorry, I've forgotten the character's name).

I hope this series "reboot" takes off - I really, really do. Will it ever replace the Hoff's version. Of course not! That said, this is a talented foursome who have really gelled through some of the mediocre stuff they did the midpart of the season. They deserve a shot, and a fair one at that.

I was really disappointed in the pilot episode for the New Knight Rider.

After reading all the hype of how this show has turned itself around, I tried to watch it again. I gave it 10 minutes before changing the channel.

It’s like the Speed Racer movie, only it’s not as realistic.

There are enough good shows on TV that I don't have to subject myself to subpar stuff like Knight Rider.

It just isn't a prime time show. They should have went with syndication like that "Legend of the Seeker" show. It would have done well with those lowered standards.

Now if only I can keep from watching the crap fest called Heroes when it comes back...

Time to bump this. Heroes has continued to suck of course, but the last episode was...good! It was quite an unexpected shock. Some of you may know they basically begged Bryan Fuller to come back and save the show. Apparently this is the first episode he was able to help out on.

Starting with the scene with Bennet and Angela in the car, the dialogue had a quite noticeable difference in 'feel'. I have to say that my interest has been peaked by this new development. There is work to be done though - if Fuller can fix the Sylar and annoying Cheerleader stories I will TRULY be impressed.

I've thought that most of it has been good ever since the plane crash. Here and there things have bothered me (Sylar saying, "Mommy......mommy"), but the latest crop of episodes have been better.

Hopefully Bryan Fuller can help. I love Dead Like Me(!) and I hope to watch all of Pushing Daisies (what little there is) at some point.

So who has the capability to deliver the puppeteer to Danko in that fashion so quickly? Also, I didn't think that the "triplets" were aware of each other. So how did Tracy know who Micah was? I must be remembering incorrectly.

I didn't like the baby thing when introduced in the previous episode with Hiro, but it had a nice, clever payoff here. I especially liked the exchange between Hiro and Ando:

"I didn't know Matt Parkman had a baby?!?"
"Does Matt Parkman even know he has a baby?!?"

(Note: Parkman's wife was cheating on him, and he probably assumed the baby wasn't his. However, the baby was named MATT PARKMAN for cripes sake! I think adult Matt Parkman would of had a clue.)

The way this show just tosses character development and previous events like used condoms, it was nice to see them hit on this problem several times this ep.

And yes, the previous chapter was as bad as I made it out to be. When even my rose colored glasses wife finally admits there is a problem, then there is most definitely a problem.

Oh, and Chuck is almost outperforming Heroes every week in the ratings.

Me and the wife actually liked Daphne. That was a very clever development, and our favorite part of the episode. there hadn't been a single emotional moment in the show since Hiro was with his mom. They even decided not to ruin this one 3 seconds later like they did the Hiro one.

However, I was also about ready to kick in the TV. It wouldn't have surprised me at all if it was real, especially after giving Parkman the 'painters' power for no apparent reason a few eps ago.

I've forgotten so much so quickly. Hm...These shows need to run like 24 does now. Straight through, no breaks.

Why did she name the child after the man she left? She would only do such a thing if she still had feelings for him...and if she does, why doesn't she make an effort to be with him again? I can think that maybe she doesn't want to be around him with his abilities...but there should at least be some internal conflict that the viewer should be made aware of. Naming the kid after him seems a bit odd, given the circumstances...

I liked Daphne too. Her hotness was really starting to grow on me.
