Vs Super Mario Bros problems (Sanyo 20 EZ)
« on: March 10, 2009, 10:15:56 pm »
I have a Vs Super Mario that has worked flawlessly for a few weeks (excluding sound) and has recently started restarting fairly regularly (it doesn't last more than 1-2 minutes). I'm thinking its a voltage problem and I need to check it (just thought I'd post here to outline and welcome opinions).

My other problem with it is there is no sound. I ID'd the monitor as a Sanyo 20 EZ and capped the audio to no avail. I still get a humming/buzzing sound. The cap went well but I did notice one capacitor that when in the process of removal a lead broke off (seemed to be broken before hand) and there was a residue/burn mark on the top side of the board (not from my soldering). I'm thinking the board is possibly dead?

I've also tested the sound with a brand new speaker as well (no luck)

I've tested continuity and everything is connected fine

In that case, whats the next step on retrieving sound?

schematic here : http://www.jrok.com/schem/20ez.pdf

is the monitor "restarting" or is it the game itself.... ?

for a no audio condition check the following:
r383, and all 'lytic caps.
