I definitely like Advancemenu - I don't use it now because of compatibility issues in Windows with my ArcadeVGA card but if not for that I would still be using it.
Some people find it difficult to setup though. This is for 2 reasons a) the default colors, sounds, etc suck and b) it is so configurable that some people simply don't ant to do all the work.
It has a couple neat features - you can specify a few different layouts for your snapshots - I liked having the ingame shot, the cab picture, and the control panel pic onscreen at the same time. Also it will play a short MP3 related to the selected game as you go through the list. I think if not for the lame default settings scaring everyone away - they would all want to use this FE. Also the user group is very helpful.
But anyway if all you need is a single snapshot ArcadeOS can do that. If you want more Advancemenu is worth the work IMO.
