Arcadeos or advmenu?

Having got my arcade machine working great with arcadeos + advmame(fraggles disk) I now wish to use a front end that will show a screen shot of the game when it is highlighted in the games list.
Is this possible in arcadeos?
if not , is advmenu I viable alternative (I am using dos) and is it easy to install over arcadeos without having to reload all the roms, etc?
Maybe someone can tell me a bit alternative? Game launcher looks good, and says it runs in dos but I`ve only just com across it and not sure how good it is?

arcadeos can show a screenshot as the backdrop to the list similar to gamelauncher...

advance menu has more options...one of these is a table off screenshots which works really well...

under dos advance menu would be my first choice...then gamelauncher...then arcadeos...

I definitely like Advancemenu - I don't use it now because of compatibility issues in Windows with my ArcadeVGA card but if not for that I would still be using it.

Some people find it difficult to setup though.  This is for 2 reasons a) the default colors, sounds, etc suck and b) it is so configurable that some people simply don't ant to do all the work.

It has a couple neat features - you can specify a few different layouts for your snapshots - I liked having the ingame shot, the cab picture, and the control panel pic onscreen at the same time.  Also it will play a short MP3 related to the selected game as you go through the list.  I think if not for the lame default settings scaring everyone away - they would all want to use this FE.  Also the user group is very helpful.

But anyway if all you need is a single snapshot ArcadeOS can do that.  If you want more Advancemenu is worth the work IMO.

I used the easycab program found here:

This program configures advmenu for you.  It alters the (horrible IMO) default colors that advmenu uses.  Then I just went through and changed a couple of the options (every sound_foreground and sound_background option to "none").  Nice and easy.  And it works great.
